Hi, I have a '74 stingray and i am looking for the chrome rack that mounts on the back of the car. it is something i have been looking for a while now. i guess it would be considered a luggage rack. anyone how one for sale or know where i should look for one??  thanks for any help you can give.

Hi Jeremy,

I have seen them at most of our sponsers here.  Try them first and then http://www.riksvet.com  Ebay might have some too.

I get my supplies from Rik's Corvette Parts and Bairs.

Good Luck in finding one.

Note- all racks are not created equal!

If you have a rack that you are replacing, you may not find one that fits. Replacing an existing 6 hole rack with the current 6 hole racks available may not work. I know, I just went through this. I ended up with an 8 hole, that matched my 6 hole setup. Apparently there was a bit of creative tooling done by the supplier of these things.

If you don't currently have a rack, I would suggest an 8 hole so that you can get the t-top holders at some point.

Bottom line, it's very hard to match up an existing rack unless your local supplier has both in stock.

good luck!

Willis76 is right. There are several different manufacturers for these racks, and few of them are the same. Even between the same racks, the six and eight hole racks are different. GM used the cheapest, dollar-wise, suppliers they could, and they changed them often.
If you do not have a rack now, then it doesn't matter, you can just get the one you like and go for it. Otherwise, you'll have to measure between the holes of the one you have, and hope for the best with a replacement.
