Heres a not so funny story! Shortly after I bought my 72 I took the air cleaner off one night to do some tweaking on the carb. Well, I didn't finish the job so I left the whole air cleaner setting off, but to protect it I placed it inside a box stacked off to the side. Two days later I returned to finish the job and when I went to put the air cleaner back on the box was missing. I thought someone had snuck into the garage and stole it. I have heard this happens a lot when people leave their garage doors up during the day while doing things in the house. Well it turns out my NEW wife through it away thinking it was trash. I could have killed her! She didn't realize that a Repop costs $300 to replace the whole thing. Well to say the least I replaced it with a Weiand Drop base air 14" Chrome air cleaner, because couldn't see spending that type of money.

Yes, Happily married. I've got the best wife in the world, she likes cars and doesn't mind me spending the money on them as long as the bills are paid first.
It was an accident, and we can laugh about it now.

I recently bought a repop air cleaner lid for our '71 LS-5 convertible, along with a repop "454" decal. I also stripped and refinished the air cleaner housing and affixed a new "Keep Your GM Car All GM" decal. The whole assembly looks really great on the car! I think the cost of the repop lid was about $130 plus shipping. The chrome is very nice on the repop lid.

I've got an original that needs re-plating that I will let go for a decent price...It has some light rust and no deep pits, could be used as is for a driver---but I wouldn't.

I wish it would have just been the lid that got tossed out, but it was the whole thing. Big bucks in every catalog I've looked in. Your airclearner looks really good all cleaned up with the new lid.
