I was comming back from town today(about an hour ago)and there on the side of the hyway going back onto the Island where I live was a gold 71 and an 87 year old black man sitting on a chair.I stopped and looked at it.Beautiful car.30.000 miles. What engine does it have. The data plate said 350CI 250HP 360 tourque.Vette has a 4 speed and lke I said it's gold with a saddle interior.I think it's the standard interior.Has headers and after market wheels that looked real nice.Couldn't really tell how good the frame was but down here thats usually not a problem. He said he will take $20,000.I think thats a little high but I'm not that up on chrome bumper cars. All chrome looks to be orignal and in excelent condition. What do you all think.I'm really interested in this car.

Well, that price is high, no books or work orders, didn't drive it yet, see any imperfections underneight and should get a good mechanic to look at.... Hmmm.. Do those first and then decide. That's just me.
By the way, no gold exterior vettes made that year and only 270HP, 330HP, 425HP, 365HP were produced. Saddle interior were made.

"War Bonnet Yellow", code 989, is actually a gold color.
Could be had with black, green, or saddle int.
'72 had a 255hp engine(LT-1). Are you sure it is a 71?
30,000 miles ain't a lot. If it's nice, it's probably worth $20,000, but I would check it out carefully, first. It would have to be a real LT-1, with correct #s.

War Bonnet Yellow is a great gold color! I agree with the others, drive it, look at it top, bottom, inside, outside, under the dash, under the carpet, in the storage panels, and do a lot of talking for any history.
Then let the haggeling begin. You should be able to get it for less than $20K but everyone has to start somewhere.

Zgator,
If you pass on this one let me know. I am about 100 miles north of you in Charleston, I would be extemely interested in buying the car. I have been looking for a bumper/4-speed. This sounds like a good place to start. Keep us posted.
Thanks,
Scott

I just got back and he wasn't there.I know it's not an LT1 because it doesn't have the LT1 hood.I do have to go back that way in awhile so I'll see if hes there then and I'll get his # ranger3.
