How new is it, and what kind of shape is it in. Did it leave any scratches or marks on the paint? I was thinking of using one just for highway use. Thanks

No. It will not leave scratches. It has a soft cotton backing. Though I would not leave it on for long periods of time due to moisture. It is like new.
