If it is just stock, I think you are a little high.
I paid $9500 for mine with 89K miles.

I do have some pics that I will set up as soon as I get a chance. I'm in no real hurry to sell. As for the responder who payed $9500; you got a hell of a deal. You can't touch a good C3 vette in California for that kind of money. NADA books it at $21K here. This one apraised at $18.5k. As I have all documentation, and my starting asking price is much lower,it's worth the money.

Wow I guess they are a little pricey out there.I picked up an 82CE with just 38,000 org.miles all of the cars medical records with window sticker. It did have a true dual exaust put on and a shift kit in the trans.I paid 17,000 and the car is perfect.everything works. But hell everything is more out your way.I'm sure you will get what your asking for. It's the last of the breed you know.Red/Red is a cool color combo.

82crossfire, I hate to see you sell your vette. But, I think you car is well worth the money.

82 Crossfire : Objectively speaking, if those C-3's are commanding that kind of money on the west coast, then a person could make a living buying nice low miles C-3's here, driving them out there, sell, then fly home.
I just sold my 79 L-82, 60,733 miles, that I put a lot of sweat and $$ in, (loved every minute), for $12,500.00. I bought it low, but all docs, etc. To me, it was worth every penny. Last mod I did was new Bilstein sport shocks all around. I did a complete frame up, no expense spared. Did I get my money back ? Nope. But, I will take that cash, add some more, and buy another.
I would rather get 90% and A BUYER, then $0.
Color, condition, owner history, docs, etc., are important. Problem is, most of us think our toys are worth more then someone is willing to pay. I think you are high also, but I hope you get your price.
Just because Corvette Mike and the dealers get their price, that does not mean we will. The dealers hold the paper if a dude finances it, and if the guy goes belly up, they just send the tow guy over there, hook it up, then get it ready for the next guy with stars in his eyes, or mid-life crisis.

Hello all. I want to start by leting you know that this car has sold. I got a little less than I stated in this add, 15.5k, but I was ok with that. I want to thank those of you who felt a need to tell me the car was not worth what I was asking for it. Hell, I knew 17k was all the money for this car. I have been buying and selling collector cars for over 35 years. A car is worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it. In this case, 15.5k. I also do not need to sell a car quickly. I can sit on it for as long as it takes to find the right buyer. As for buying them cheap, bringing them to the west coast and selling them; yes, you can do quite well. I do want to thank all the experts out there, but I don't recall asking anyone how much I should ask for this car. I could understand you discussing price if you were interested in buying it, but some of you felt a need to express amazement that I would dare ask for top dollar. I am happy some of you got a great deal buying your car. Low dollar examples, and nice ones at that, are out there. That's what I look for in buying ones to resell. Having said that, please don't tell other people their bussiness unless they ask for your opinion. Thanks all for leting me vent a bit, and thanks to all of you who responded both here and through email supporting me and telling me to "go for it" and the car "is worth every penny". Thanks for understanding. Good luck with your C3.

Crossfire I understand your postion. It always makes sense to buy low and sell high. Basic economics. And I also now understand you buy and sell on a regular basis. That's also a good thing. But don't get short with anyone here. It was not their intention to do so with you. You need to keep your audience in mind.
If you have a car in a dealer lot you would get some of the same thing. The sellers job is to get a much as possible, the buyers job is to spend as little as possible. You know that. We all do.
Here is a group of people who have a passion for something. They come here to talk about it. They ask for opinions. They give opinions. There are often things said just because someone may not have considered it before. And it could be directed toward many, not just the person in the post. We all share experence with nothing in mind but helping the others with less or different or more experence. Even the most experenced can learn a lot from the others here. I know I do.
That is the site you are on. We are friends. We talk like we have know each other our whole life. Like we are sitting in the driveway with our grill fired up and our cars sitting there waiting for the cruise after the meal. It's a much different approach then going into your place of business and telling you what to do.
They are not sticking their nose in your business. They are trying to be helpfull friends. You hate that, go to a restaurant. Otherwise pull up a lawn chair and grab a burger. Your welcome to do so. Just don't come to the grill and insult the cook. Show him your recipe instead.
