I'm interested in this car but I'm way to far off to check it out in person. Anyone close by?

Howard,
If the seller would be willing to give me his phone number and address, would you be willing to go check the car out? I'd be more than happy to pay you.
I have verified that the car was originally an LS4/275hp by the Vin# he sent me. He can't seem to find the numbers on the engine pad to verify that it's the original engine.

Jim -- You've probably worked e-Bay enough to know that a purchase like this is always "iffy." Especially when the seller is a first-timer with no feedback, like this one. Finding someone able to lay eyes on the car and owner would be very wise. I'll also bet the reserve is set at about 20 grand. The car is about an hour to 90 minutes from me. If Howard can't help out, I might be able to. As I recall, you only have a couple of days left. Let me know if I can help. From the one picture, looks like the paint is pretty new. FYI, I have a spare 454 block sitting in my garage. I don't remember the code, but I think it was from a 71 365 HP car. Mike

Just trying to protect some privacy here. Since the "Search Engines" are now scanning the threads it is advised that phone numbers and e-mail addresses NOT be put into the text of messages or signatures for everyone to see. An IM, PM or e-mail would be a better mode to exchange contact information.

Mike, thanks for the offer but I just talked to Howard and "if" the guy sends me his phone number and address Howard is going to check it out for me.
The gentleman sent me about 10 pictures of the car but they are so small it's really hard to tell much about the car. I can tell that everything looks to be original under the hood. He says the only problem with the car is a small leak from the transmission. That's to be expected since the car was in storage for 23 years and he has only driven it about 2000 miles in the 8 years that he has owned it. My only concern is the fact that he can't seem to "see" the numbers and codes on the engine pad.
Again, thanks for your offer to help Mike.

IMO, he knows the engine isn't the correct engine. He hasn't answered email or question through ebay requesting his phone number and address in order for Howard to go check the car out.
I really do appreciate the offer from Howard and Mike to check on this car for me. If I can ever repay the favor, let me know.
