If you can get someone to verify those numbers around the a/c then he's a better man than I. That always causes me grief. Maybe I just don't try hard enough ? Crutches Guess I'm kinda "LAME"huh?

Vette(s): 1972 conv., sunfire yellow, blk interior, blk vinyl and convertible top. Off frame restoration with American Speed 383 stroker engine producing 500hp plus a 200hp NOS system. MSD ignition. Hooker super competition headers with chambered exhaust.
Jim,

I'll agree it is tough to see the numbers on an engine pad with the compressor there. It's also tough to see the block casting number on a car with automatic tranny.

That being said, anyone who puts that kind of car on eaby should know any potential buyer will be asking those questions. I have sold 3 cars on ebay and I have always had all that info in my description. It sure saves answering lots of emails.

I have a '73 with the BB and A/C... I have no trouble seeing the numbers... may have to scrape a little paint tho...

He could always take soapstone and drag over the area, then dust off to leave the recessed code in white, then take a pic of the area.  Trust me, it is WELL WORTH the time to look at the code on the back of the engine.  If it says 5.0L, as mine did (I looked too lateWits%20End) you want to take that 305 into consideration.
