Vette(s): Silver 1974 Convertible - L82 4 speed Low miles (was only 8,900 when I bought it in March 2006) - Now 54K miles. Original owner bought it as an investment for son's college expenses. 2008 Jetstream Blue Convertible
Over the summer I had a few items replaced on my 74 L-82 4 spd (with A/C).  The car had a fairly well documented 8900 miles on it when I bought it in March.

First I did the radiator and radiator support.  The radiator had a slight leak and I am not mechanically inclined.  I don't know how easily the leak can be repaired.  I replaced it with an aluminum one from DeWitts.  Had I known, I would have gone for the "Black Beauty" (I think that's what it's called) option and had the replacement painted black for just $35 more - it would have kept a more original look over the aluminum.

I wanted to get all of the fluids changed (I had started by telling the shop to flush and fill the radiator and they told me it would be a waste with the leak), so next went the differential fluid (while at it, I had them change all of the bushings in the rear end and the control arms).  When the cleaned everything out of the rear end, they noticed a piece floating.  One of the arms that holds a spring in place had broken.  They weren't sure what type of impact this would have, but they strongly suggested replacing the whole carrier.  Once I did, I noticed a significant improvement.  The build sheet shows I had 3.55 gears.  I guess I don't really know what I have now....

Keep in mind, I drove the car about 3-4000 miles with both of these original parts in the car and I had no problems (it did seem to have more power to the wheels after the carrier was replaced).  Included in those miles were two highway trips, including the one from Atlanta to Indy when I picked up the car after buying it.

Anyway, I thought I'd offer these up here first before e-bay if anyone is interested or knows of someone who is.  I have pictures and if you're intested, you can check my feedback on e-bay - it is 100% after over 100 transactions.  My login there is irlharbour.

Oh, there was also one spacer for the rear end that was not needed, but was in the kit I bought.  The package reads "7503353", then, "03820224" then "GR 5 816    SPACER"

I'll throw in a few pics here just to raise interest.  If no one is interested, my feelings won't be hurt.  Also, if anyone could suggest a good starting price, I'd appreciate it.  I was thinking at least $100 to start for both of the big items.  Maybe 4.99 for the spacer.

Oh yeah...  I also have a lower valance panel new in box that I got when I bought the car.  Mine is cracked, but I think I would rather transform the part into money for something else for the car.  Corvette Central part #143017

I wanted a Corvette my whole life, but I never dreamed of all the wonderful people I would meet because of it!
