I found this supposed 1980 on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&Item=220105650125
I sent the guy an email asking why the 1982 VIN wouldn't be provided. He had previously been asked about the VIN and said carfax won't go back to an '80.
I also asked for interior and engine bay photos to see the shape of the car. Obviously the headlights don't work and he wasn't smart enough to put them down prior to taking the pix!

Yep, sure looks like an 82 collectors edition to me. Ive always thought it interesting how some cars are described as "must see" and "beautiful condition" and there are no pics... The claims may be true, but who would bid on such a car??

Low miles (was only 8,900 when I bought it in March 2006) - Now 54K miles. Original owner bought it as an investment for son's college expenses.
2008 Jetstream Blue Convertible
Isn't that Bubba posing with the car?
Carfax does claim to work on 81 or 82 (can't recall for sure) or newer. He is correct that they can't do a 1980, but that's still no reason to not provide it.
I too always found it interesting during my search that someone could want $20,000 or more for a car and would only have 1 picture and very few details.
I wanted a Corvette my whole life, but I never dreamed of all the wonderful people I would meet because of it!
You ain't gonna believe the crap answer I got from the guy...
It has a 1982 pait job (collectors edition but )the vehicle is a 1980 ,if you send me an e-mail address I can send you some more pics

I bid on a 78 back in December. Was the high bid, did not meet reserve,
but only bid what I felt I could just going by pictures and the sellers
writeup. He had at least 12 -15 pictures, exterior, interior and
engine. It was at a dealer not too far away, so a month or so later I
called and went to see it. I didn't make any offers because the first
time we talked he told me not to waste my time coming down. I wanted to
see it anyway just to gain a little more experience. Nice car, but he
made it sound mint, which it wasn't IMO. His pictures look great. The salesman let me take pictures and it's funny how my camera just so happen to pick up all the flaws. I would love to show them from a sellers and buyers perspective, but I think the car is still for sale, so problaly not a good idea.
I fixed your link Dennis so it is now clickable

All I did was add [url.]Your ebay link here[/url] at the begining and end of the link from ebay. Leave out the Period I had to put in after the first url to keep my example from turning into an actual clickable link. cilrah 2007-05-02 08:27:01

When I bought my 81, I initially found a car on ebay and went to see it before bidding. I was told it was an 81' it was a 79 with an 81 rear bumper. I was told it was orig and numbers matching. It had a passenger 305, a color change and oh, no brakes... Not bad for a mint car at 14k $$ a wasted Sunday..
