Looked to be a sweet deal for the $$$ that was shown. Hope he enjoys it and Darla doesn't miss it too much. I have always liked the collector for the special things GM did to it that year.

Vette(s): 82 Collector Edition (*sold 12/2006)
I miss her already, but am glad a forum member bought her. As Norsky said while he and Pete were here, it's like more of an adoption than a sell when it comes to Vettes. It was such a pleasure to meet them both, what a couple of really nice guys, and as crazy for Vettes like Steve and I are. Can't wait to see the pics.
Guess I'm going to have to change my sig and pic to the C5 info now when we get back to Utah where all the pics are.
gonna have to get used to C5 now.

On a Wednesday in late April of 2000 I called Pete and the conversation went something like this:
Norsky 2006-12-19 07:45:57
Jim: "What's on your calendar for this coming Friday afternoon and Saturday?"
Pete: "Why do you ask?"
Jim: "Are you interested in flying to Pittsburgh?"
Pete: "Pittsburgh?!? Why in the world would you want to fly to Pittsburgh?"
Jim: "To purchase a red 1970 Corvette convertible and drive it back."
Pete: "What time does the plane leave?"
In the fall of 2004 Pete again joined me on a cross country trek to Bowling Green for the first C3X so a few of you have met him. That weekend spent with members of C3VR set the hook on his wanting to get a Corvette. But with kids in college and their daughter getting married in October of 2005 the "Corvette itch" had to stay unscratched. But I knew he still had his eyes open looking for one.
Then over this past Thanksgiving Patty and I were over at Pete and Em's place for a visit and I mentioned Darla's ad for selling her '82 CE. He asked a couple of questions about it and I thought that was the end of it. Then on the first Wednesday of December he calls me and the conversation went something like this:
Pete: "What's on your calendar for the weekend of the 15th, 16th and 17th?"
Jim: "Why do you ask?"
Pete: "Want to fly to LA with me and look at a Corvette?"
Pete: "Want to fly to LA with me and look at a Corvette?"
Jim: "What time does the plane leave?"
Well, you could have knocked me over with a feather. Here's a few pictures from the weekend (click on each one for a larger version - dial-up members beware, these are big).
Pete checking out "Dar's Destiny".
I think he likes it...!!!
SOLD...!!!
Steve and Darla with Pete.
The new "care-taker" ready to drive away...!!!

It was a long weekend (flew west on Friday night and flew east on the Sunday morning "red-eye") but fun to see the transfer of a beautiful car from one loving owner to the next, especially when both are C3VR members...!!! For the remainder of the winter "Dar's Destiny" is safely tucked away in Pete's cousin's garage a few miles away from Darla's mom's place in southern California. I have a hunch there will be a lottery of sorts held amoungst family members and friends to determine who will get to be the co-pilot for the drive back to Wisconsin when the warmer driving season returns to the upper midwest...!!!

Congratulations to both Darla and Pete.
I think Dar is bittersweet, but I know Pete is estatic!
What a great story.
Now Jim, you need to get Pete signed up as a C3VR lifer.

If that car is as good as it looks here, then $10K is one h e l l of a great deal
. I love my '82 and the '82CE is a notch above. I wish Pete the best of luck with it
