Trailer hitched that is... |wink| I am looking for a trailer hitch to fit my 1980 coupe. I am planning to get a small cargo trailer, the type motorcycles tow, and color match it to my car.

I know that a factory hitch was available, at least according to the Black Book, but I would be happy to find a after market hitch. I have already been to the major hitch manufacture websites and the C3 is not available. I guess I am about twenty or so years too late for their liking.. |blinkyeyes| Any help would be appreciated..

Thanks,

Aftermarket hitches show up on Ebay occasionally. Not all C3 hitches are the same...after the switch to collapsible bumpers the hitches changed as well, so be careful when someone is selling one and describes it simply as fitting '68-'82 Vettes.

Another option is going to a qualified shop that fabricates trailers and hitches. That will probably not be cost effective though, since a class one hitch is about all a C3 can handle.

You can also try some of the Vette suppliers on the web that specialize in used and NOS parts. There is also a vendor (whose name escapes me) that manufactures trailers for Corvettes. They would likely be a good source. Maybe someone else here knows their name, or a web search can help.

The problem with a hitch on a Vette is not to obstruct the spare tire carrier, that could turn into a real hassle on the highway, trying to get the hitch off so you can get to the spare |laugh|

Thanks for the suggestions. I watch E-bay but the only hitch I have seen recently was as suggested wrong for a 80-82.

So far I have managed to find one source, Da'Lan hitches. But I believe a price of $250 for a aftermarket Class 1 hitch is a bit high. I may very well end up having a local shop fabricate a hitch. For the light weight I am looking at towing a bumper only, or bumper to the bumper shocks with some u-bolts ought to be fine...
