Vette(s): 1969 Corvette Stingray Convertible. Just bought it from my uncle who owned it since 1971. Fathom green, green interior. 350/300, T400.
I have a '69 convert that I need a left side exhaust manifold for, casting #3872766, it has the smog holes. I took the smog tubes off mine last night and one of them broke off in the manifold, don't know if I'll be able to get it out without destroying the manifold.
Thanks,
Matt

Matt, use heat. Lots and lots of heat. Get a torch and turn it orange. It will come apart with no trouble.

The bad part is there's nothing to grab onto since it's broke off flush. Should I drill into the fitting a little ways and try an easy out (after getting it orange hot)?
Thanks,
Matt

If it's broken flush it's much harder. I have taken a hack saw blade, cut the backside down to fit in the hole, and cut two or three slices into the fitting from the inside out. With these relief cut you can then take a punch and knock the cut sections inward, releasing them from the threads, and can them pull them out.
It's a lot of trouble and grief, but it works.
Before that you may want to heat it and try an easyout. Concentrate on heating the manifold, and not the broken fitting. In this case you can heat too much. You want the fitting to stay firm. Just go to a very mild red, not orange.
