Vette(s): 1975 Stingray Nomad Wagon, with Daytona front, custom hood scoop, dual side vents; 420HP 350; Doug Nash 5 speed; 1980 rear end W/4:11 gears; Cherry Red metallic paint.
Thanks Indy, you know, i actually have the original July 1972 Car and Driver (with my old home address on it) from when they debuted.  I fell in love then, promised to get me one, finally did.
I dont show mine often, but you should see the high school boys when i go to a car wash with it.   Ronda and I sit back and laugh that they will wash the paint off of it.Rolling%20On%20The%20Floor%20Laughing   I love going to car shows, just not being in them.  The ones that i have attended have to many "purists".

I guess my stinger hood and sidepipes will put me in the non-purist group.  I remember the '70's.  I had the loooonnnnnggggg white fur on the back deck of a '68 Impala, red w/black interior and the speakers on the back deck as well.  I loved that car and that time.

The only thing I see wrong with this car is that the nose is crunched.  If you look at pic #2, you can see a gap in the bottom center.  Then the car cover pic covers this area in the close-up.

I remember seeing the can-am stuff on vettes that ran at Hallett Motor Speedway in the late '70's.  Man, they looked tough and were stout runners.

I guess it's all about what turns your crank!

Don't let em get you down, Dave.  If we were all alike, it sure would be boring.

I agree with Dave, Dennis and Indy, I feel a person should be able to modify a car to his liking.

As you can see below, I put a modified fiberglass rear bumper on my 74 instead of the stock split one.  I did it because I liked having a spoiler and the sort of frenched tail lights.  All else is stock design.  I do think the guy in Australia did go quite a bit farther than I would like, but its his car and he seems to have done a good job.  Just my .02 cents worth.

Don't get me wrong guys, I don't mind modified Vettes at all and in fact I do like the Nomad mods Itsdave92570 has done.  But this car is just tooo much, and the price he's asking $38K in US currency as the opening bid!!!  The average 77 Vette in Oz is going for around $25K to $28K Australian.

I do like the interior.

The rear end is just pig ugly.

I want to see pics. of you wagon Vette.Thats one of my guilty pleasures,I remember back in the day someone had a nice new matallic gold(small matallic)very nicley done.I wouldn't mind having one but not as my only vette. My tastes are more stock than custome.Although I have grown found of the bubble tailights. When you start doing a lot of little things to your vette you drastically lower the # of potenial buyers. There is a fine line there

Dave, I like mods too. I've changed the color on three of my vettes, and have put a high-rise hood on the '72. The car mostly appears stock, but I've added mods to the engine.   I'm going to change the rims and tires next.   I bought my vettes to drive and enjoy, and that's what I do.

I like both of your cars, and would love the chance to see the Nomad. It looks hot and I'll bet it looks better in person.

You're right, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and to me your vette is beautiful.   I can appreciate the Daytona vette for what it is, but it's not for me. I can imagine how difficult it must be to drive it, judging from the cracked front end. I don't think it would be able to take a speed bump at all.

So don't stay away from any events. All vettes are accepted here, period. I for one would like to see your car in person one day. I can't make the gathering this year, but I will be at the midwest event next year.   Maybe I'll see you there.

[QUOTE=Itsdave92570]

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. What he has is a Daytona front end with an can-am kit on it, a twin turbo hood and the typical squared headlights, and the fender vents are still sold now. All done properly, with good body work. The only flaw i can see justified here is that he does need wider tires in the rear to fill up the body panels. By the way, I have the fender vents, front end and headlights all on Cherry Love, my pride and joy red Vette.. And, in the spirit of the 70's, I also have a black and red interior, as this car does, but mine is in Velvet..

If you recall, back in the 70's, the hot thing to do with these c3's was to cut them up, or put on body kits, not leave them stock. This is a fine example of what was popular in its day, as my red Vette is.

I have been quietly "phased out" of a local Vette club due to having the Eckler’s Nomad wagon kit on it, been insulted on here and another Vette club about its looks. It takes work to be an individual, to have a car that stands out from the rest. Anybody can replace the parts with the same thing to restore a car, and there were several thousand of most C3's out there, all looking the same, just different color

Personally, if my wife would allow another Vette, i would buy one of these Can Am cars. But, with the responses here, anybody having questions can see why i will not be driving Cherry Love to the C3VR meets, this year or any other. Funny, when ever I drive Cherry, I get A LOT of praises, and the insults always come from the same group: C3 owners whose corvettes look like all the rest, no originality.

BTW, anybody catch the crack in the front lower air dam?  It is barely visible in pic #2 and covered by the car cover in the pic of straight on close up w/cover strategically placed.
