I have a '71 Corvette that I bought as a project over a year ago. I ended up with a bad back and surgery just last month. I'm thinking about selling but don't know where to start on price. The car runs pretty well. The brakes are new with a new master but I can't seem to bleed them properly. I have spent most of my time just cleaning and buying parts off of e-bay and the classifieds. I would say it is all there and is running and drivable but needs to be painted. Interior looks fine but really needs seats re-done and new door panels. lights work. even the fibre optics. IF, IF I sell this car where should I start the price? By the way the paint is not to bad from about 15 feet. The car really needs to be at least partially pulled apart and put back together lovingly. You know, fixing things like missing tach cable, heater core has been bypassed so I figure it leaks. Whats it worth? It is in Sacramento, CA (actually Placerville) - Oh yeah, non-original motor. I believe it is an '82 350 and it has a 4 speed.

Placerville!!! AKA 'Ole Hangtown'....I remember it well. About 1972,  if memory serves me well. Angry The judge nodding out on the bench, etc.... Ruined our trip to Tahoe.... Sorry, didn't mean to hijack thread... just dragged up some old memories......................

   I know the voices aren't real, but they have some pretty cool ideas...

Brake bleeding on a c3 can be a challenge, I jack up the rear to get the master cylinder level and then bleed. Works pretty good so far. I have seen 71's going for 20K or higher depending what condition it is in. Look at your local area AutoTrader and see what the prices look like, then E-bay and cars.com

Thanks Rick.It is a coupe and it is presentable (kind of). I see guys driving around in worse but I have it non-opped (no registration) because I won't drive it in the shape it is in. I did drive it home and it was about 45 degrees with no heater and really loud. I think I will start around 10k or 11k and see where it goes. Anyone interested? Also thanks fp for the brake bleeding tip. I will try it as soon as I am able.
And yes this is still "Old Hangtown" and you still don't want to have to deal with the law here. Tahoe is an hour away and a great place to be. They have a great Corvette club up there. They have a nice event every summer. I took my 63 split window 2 years ago. I only got to keep it a little over 3 months because I bought it without consulting my better half. She didn't see the bargain that I did but I wish I still had it. I made 3 grand on it in three months but it is worth more every day.red907ie2007-12-08 19:19:44

Engine code stamped on the pad at the front of the right head will identify the engine.

Hi Terry;

I have seen your add in this forum a couple of times over the past few weeks. I would be interested if you had some pictures of the car that I could look at. Iam going to retire next year and have been looking for a project car to work on.

Thanks
Rod
