This is a documented, low mileage, numbers matching, survivor 1972 LT-1. I have the original Tank Sticker. I also have owner history and mileage documentation with copies of previous titles going all the way back to 1978. The title from 1978 is from South Carolina. The owner of the car at that time was in the Navy and he brought the car to Wisconsin with him when he left the service. Since then there has only been one other long time owner.
There is NO RUST on or under this car, never was any. Absolutely no frame or birdcage issues with this car. Other than the hood, the t-tops, and the gas cap lid, most of the paint is original. When you get close to the car you can see that the paint is checked, you would expect this from an original car of this age. The original paint still shines very, very nice. You can also see the bonding strips which you should again expect on a survivor car; in fact you would look for them to confirm that the car had not been damaged at some time and then repaired. The chrome and other bright trim is in very nice condition. The black leather interior is original and in excellent condition.
This is a numbers matching LT-1. The block, the heads, intake manifold, carburetor, distributor, exhaust manifolds, smog pump, water pump, alternator... are all correct. The car has 52,000 original documented miles on it.
There are only four very minor issues with the car. The wiper door works fine but the wipers do not. They worked last fall when I put the car away for the winter. Switch appears to be fine so I think the problem is in the wiper motor itself. The clock and the anti theft alarm do not work, typical for these cars. Lastly, at some point the shoulder belts were removed. They are available and very easy to install. That's it, everything else works as it should, right down to the key buzzer and the seat belt reminder.
Also, Mille Miglia Red with the optional black leather interior is very rare on the LT-1s. Only about 50 of the 1741 total 1972 LT-1s were built in this color and trim combination. This LT-1 also has power steering, power brakes, tilt/telescopic steering wheel, AM/FM radio, and rally wheels.

We had the car down at Bloomington Gold in St Charles last month. The car was documented and added into Scott Lindee's LT-1 survey, in fact he spent a lot of time taking photos and notes of the car for future reference for other cars. Later on in the day Scott came back with the judging chairman of the Illinois chapter of NCRS to show him the car. They then called another guy over from the Wisconsin chapter of NCRS to see it. All three agreed that the car should be judged for and would achieve Bloomington Gold Survivor status. They all also felt that the car should be judged for NCRS Flight status. The consensus was that it would easily make NCRS 2nd Flight as is and that it could possibly make or get very close to Top flight honors.
This car is very quick and handles extremely well. That's what the LT-1 Corvette was all about. These LT-1s are well balanced high performance machines and they are a thrill to drive. They really shine on curvey country highways. If you've never had the pleasure you are missing out on driving a great American road car.
Price is $39,000.
Very fair for a rare, documented, low mileage, numbers matching, survivor LT-1 in great condition and in a fantastic color/trim combination. This is what collectors of original cars look for. I do not think you would do better anywhere else. I would not hesitate to put this car up against any other LT-1s out there that may be for sale.

After I checked the post it looks like the pictures did not center correctly. Looks like the right third or so of each got cut off. Not sure if it's just my computer or if that's the way they will show for everyone. Maybe the picture files were too large. Anyway, I can email the pictures to anyone that is interested.

I guess I should have looked further down. The side scroll bar is at the very bottom of the post.

Nice ride

I've got a 1970 LT-1 roadster that I'm restoring. You're absolutely right about it being a fun car to drive. The price is very fair also, especially with your documentation. Shame to let it go.
