Unfortunately, I need to sell my Dad's '81 C3. Yes, the subject line is correct, it has 8900 (+ change) original miles on it. My Dad bought this car from his neighbor friend in 1981 and has kept it in his garage, covered ever since. He took it out on summer weekends to clean and wax it, drive it around the block, and let people gawk, then put it back in the garage. He drove out of the neighborhood only on rare special occasions, like to my bachelor party in 1986, graduations, etc...
It is exactly as it came from the factory except for the following:
Red with Black leather interior and mirror t-tops.
new master cylinder
new brakes all around
new OEM power antenna
new battery
fan belt
maybe a light bulb or two
oil and air filters
oil and gasoline

I may have missed a couple things, and I will update this if I find anything.
Everything else is original, including the tires, which still have lots of tread and are in great shape.
Factory AM/FM/8 Track, cruise control, power door locks, rear defogger, aluminum wheels, a/c.
I just had the a/c recharged and while it seems that it is getting cold, the heater control seems to be stuck on heat/floor right now. I will fix this when I get a chance. There are a couple of minor garage scratches on exterior, but looks very good in general. My Dad spilled a little battery acid on the carpet behind the driver seat when he replaced the battery, and the carpet now has a couple of small bleached out spots there.
It has only had one very minor ding to rear fender which was fixed very well many years ago and still cannot be detected. My father has been diagnosed with cancer, he can't drive it anymore, and he needs the money. Please contact me if you know of anyone who might be interested. Car is in the greater Cleveland, OH area. Thanks.

Sorry for your Dad, I so hate "C" it has taken away to many great people. I bought my Red C3 from a buddy on his death bed just tying up all the loose ends.
A few pictures will help you, and you might want to put a starting price on it. This site gets a lot of exposure and though it's a tough market right now, people are always looking.
Good luck with the sale the car sounds very nice.

Thanks ebo. I have some pictures that I will put up soon. I was hoping to get the input of some more experienced Vette people on where we should price it, but I am doing some research on my own trying to come up with a reasonable starting point.
Also, since your Dad kept that car so long it must really be special to him. Life is short, maybe you should be the next name on that title.............

Hmmm, I never thought of that. Well, maybe once or twice. OK, I have thought about it every day. And I'm sure I could get it really cheap too, of course, that means I would have to pay all of his doctor bills!

I'll be buying it if we cant get a fair price, but we have to try for the money first. I guess I'll just have to sell one of my other toys to make room in the garage if that happens. It is a beautiful car, and I did get looks from a couple of nice looking moms at soccer practice when I drove it this summer
. Still, I feel guilty every time I put a mile on it. I dont want to be the one to turn 10000!

Sorry to hear about you Dad. If you must sell the car, based on your description, I would not sell it for under 10,000. Pictures , would be helpful and may increase the selling price.

I tried to put pictures on this web site http://kubanvette.embarqspace.com/
Let me know if it doesn't work for you.
Barry pictures are nice, good job. You will need some closeups under the hood. I see the asking price and I'll be honest, you will need a award winning C3 to get that price But you never know till you try. It may be the sun but it looks like it could use a good body detailing including buffing. If you were closer I'd help you. Interior looks real good and dash pad also. Take a black "Sharpie" to the bleached out carpet.

And if you keep it your Dad would much rather see you putting miles on then anyone else.....sell the bike!
Have a great xmas with your Dad.....give him something that both of you will remember.
God Bless

Yes, I know the price is optimistic, but I had to talk him down to start there! You are right, it is not just the sun, I didn't even get a chance to wash it before I took those pictures. It would look a lot better with a full detail. I have some more pictures, including some under the hood, but I ran out of space on that web site. I'll switch some around later. Thanks for the input.
