Vette(s): Have owned a 1966 Convertible, 1974 Convertible, 1978 Coupe, 1988 35th Anniversary, 1997 Coupe. All have gone on to new owners.
Looking to add another C3 to the garage, and am more interested in a complete project or a running car that will need to be restored. This one must be an automatic trans, as I already have a 4 speed.  I am asking around now to give me some time to make a decision, as I want to start on it this coming winter. So, let me know what you have, email pics and price. Thanks Jon

I have a white '77 (use to be tan), with a brown interior. I believe it to be original numbers' matching, but I'm researching that as well once I get a hold of the papers that go with the car. Until I get a hold of those papers from the previous owner I can only say that it could be a rebuilt orginal or a crate motor...not sure which at the moment. The VIN is: 1Z37L7S421334. Its an L48 automatic, born Feb of 1977. I bought it over a year ago from my Corvette mechanic as a trade in for repair work done to another Corvette.  Its a good 20/20 car and will have new rear adjustable strut rods installed soon along with complete weather strip kit and rear 'bumper'. I also plan to 'throw' some paint on it to bring it back to a better look. Then, surprise the wife with her own C3 if possible. However, the right price can get it as well and get her something later. If interested, I'll get some photos taken. Right now, if I had to ask for a price, I'd probably start at 10k and work my way down from there.  If you might be interested, I'll get some photos taken for ya! Thumbs Up

My buddy Pete called Saturday afternoon asking me what a '75 coupe might be worth.  A lady showed up at his club's car show Saturday morning looking to sell her Corvette.  She had purchased it new and drove it for about 20 years before parking it in a shed - where it has remained ever since.  She was asking $1,500 for it.  Well Pete's curiosity was peaked so he drove out to look at it on Sunday.

What he found was a Bright Blue L-48 automatic with a silver interior - but this one might be a little bit more of a project than you want to tackle.  The door of the shed had been gone for some time leaving the rear of the car exposed to the elements so the rear bumper cover is shot.  All four tires are flat and the car has settled into the dirt floor some.  Both doors opened easily and Pete said that surprisingly there didn't appear to be any rodent damage to the interior.  They tried to open the hood but only one latch would release so he couldn't get a look at the engine compartment.

From the way he described it my guess is the frame would be questionable at best, the brakes are probably solid chunks of rust and most of the suspension would probably need to be replaced.  And it definitely needed paint.  The only good points about the car that I could see are that it is a one owner car with a tad over 90k miles.

Why someone would be so unkind like that to any vehicle, let alone a Corvette, is beyond me.

Norsky, I would be interested in that Vette even though it may need a deep restoration. If you find something out let me know. Thanks Jon

Thanks ! I have submitted an inquiry about the 75 Stuck in the barn Vette. I "MAY" take you up on the frame offer if this deal materializes. Jon

Update to my wanted ad, due to a health issue that has arised, I am going to be out of the running for a winter project for the time being. Will be having surgery in November which will limit my mobility for a while, so not going to be able to do that ever beloved twisting and turning of the body, which is a requirement when working on Vettes !!!   Many many Thanks to the leads I got and hopefully a year from now I will be able to continue my quest to add to the C3 stable. For now just going to put some miles on the '78 and enjoy the summer. Thanks again. Jon
