So I always stop and look at Pacers when they go on sale, I've grown fond of them for some reason.
Before C3VR 101 ....... I would have not seen the little tell tale signs to look for even just from pictures. This site is so good at making a person get the right deal at the right price. so many times we see new forum members buying problem cars and sometimes to late. Waz down under was lucky and did not loose his money on that rip off car, he spent a few months educating himself here and looks to have landed a beauty right under is nose.
So back to the car above, read the sellers discription of this car, the usual "You will not find a better car than this one" So at 30K miles and a Pacer you would hope that it is well cared for, closer educated eyes show dirty stained carpet (maybe rust stains) on carpet at door opening, side kick panel carpet is also stained. (I think I would drive this limited low mile car with clean shoes) The wheels hmmmm pretty dull if you ask me, and do you see any red pinstripe on them? Under the hood the Master cylinder is rusted, the booster has black peeling paint (reconditioned years earlier under the hood 30K?) You think you may have a moisture problem if your air cleaner wing nut is rusted??? The black foil tube is gone from exhaust mainifold but the metal shroud is there. I'm so glad he did show under the car photos....dang Florida weather......
See what you guys have turned me into.....a dam picky vette PITA.
So is this what he says, will fine none nicer.......here sucker sucker sucker it's your's for 19K

Vette(s): 1978 Silver Anniversary L82 4spd (M21) Red Leather. Pace Car is in the hands of a new caretaker.
Not very pretty under the hood. L82 hood emblems- vin and engine bay say otherwise. Vin shows an "8" instead of a "9" for a pace car, probably a typo. Lower silver was not painted inside the door jambs. I'd check the numbers real good on that one.
My engine bay was not real pretty either, but at least it looks original.

Good one Willis. LOL

VIN shows it to be an L48 NON-Pacer. I doubt it is a typo, but it's possible. On dial-up, I can't wait for all fo the pics to load, but I think I'd pass on this one, even tho it is a low mileage, low VIN car....especially for the price they want for it. I say it's prolly a fake....at least until I can see the rest o the pics.
Go for it Albo!!!Thumbs Up

NOT!LOL

btw...it states "You will not find a cleaner more Prestiage's vehicle then this one."

You would think someone trying to scam $20 large would at least have Spel-Chek! LOL

OMFG!!!! I let it load the pics! RUN, FOREST!!! RUUUUUUUUUN!!!!!!LOL
The engine compartment ALONE is enough to turn me off. I ain't no Pacer fanatic, but...dint they have dual snorkel air cleaners, or wuz it just the L82s that had dual schnozes?
I'm leery of the silver paint on the inside of the door too.....
I'm surprised they haven't claimed it to have once been owned by Mickey Rourke or someone.....yeeeesh!

In the '78's only the L82 had the dual-snorkel air cleaner. I've seen a few L48's that have had aftermarket L48 hood emblems stuck on, and it's hard to tell from the pix if that's the case with this "Pacer".

Speaking of being nit-picky Ebo, I noticed that they have the floor mats driver's/passenger's reversed!!

I concur with the observations of Prof. EBO and agree with the knowledge and education that is pervasive on this site. I recently had the opportunity to look at a 96 "collector's edition" for a friend of mine. It was :

Wrong color (not a CE), average repaint, lots of spider cracks, leaking shocks, several oil leaks and seals needing replacing, antennae did not work, damaged fiberglass and frame dent underneath, cracked roof panel, worn seals around the windshield, etc. It ran well, had plenty of power, and could dazzle with the acceleration .... yet

My friend was very interested in buying until I gave it the once over top & bottom. Brought my ramps and we jacked it up for full underside evaluation. My knowledge and information awareness from this site was invaluable in the assessment.

Maybe Jon Voight?

Also, is this an individual selling it, or a dealer?  Notice the photo of the steering wheel shows a key tag that is usually only found on dealer cars.

Non-Pacer rims.
Looks like the cowl area has waaaaay too much sealer in it....like it's been repaired, or Bubba had a little roofing asphalt left from his last roofing job.
Shroud looks like it has been broken/repaired.
No plug wire shielding.
Vac lines and EGR valve painted blue, along with other components that would not have been painted originally....and the EGR valve isn't even connected.

I wonder if someone had a wrecked/storm damaged Pacer, and found a "regular" '78 to put all of the Pacer interior into, and then have the car painted?

Something stinks in Denmark.....and I can smell it allllll the way over here!Dead

I just e-mailed the seller with some questions.....with 1 hour left on the auction....Evil Smile Tongue
