Got a lead on a '74 that could very well be for sale.  Owner has two cars and one has to go.

I plan to see the car tonight (not interested myself) and can provide more details later in this post.

I know it has a hot 383 stroker engine and 3.55 gears.  Will provide more details.

If you are interested and have specific questions, ask them here and I'll try to answer them.

Mike

Part 2.

Saw the car this evening. He wants to sell.  She doesn't.  Go figure!  Ermm

Car is WHITE with TAN VINYL interior.  Was an L82 car, now 383 stroker with 3.55 rear.  Stock rims.  Aftermarket nose and tail (not rubber). Had been hit in left front with Bubba glasswork repairs (underneath).

Driver, but needs work (e.g., trailing arms rebuilt, coolant leak, etc.).  Don't they ALL need work??!Paint is a 6.  Interior is a 7.  Appears to be mostly stock. Located in Kansas City Metro.

Owner is currently building up a 70 vert, all numbers matching (down to accessories), frame off rebuild.  LS5 / 390 motor (original but re-built).  Car is BRONZE with BLACK interior.  Will be very nice and desireable when finished! I bought the SB hood as he is turning it back to original BB.  Got the hood for $100!!

I suggested he join C3VR.  If anyone is REALLY interested in the car, I can provide phone number.  Send me PM.  No guarantees. Mike

Vette(s): 1972 conv., sunfire yellow, blk interior, blk vinyl and convertible top. Off frame restoration with American Speed 383 stroker engine producing 500hp plus a 200hp NOS system. MSD ignition. Hooker super competition headers with chambered exhaust.
Is the car that might or might not be for sale a vert or T-top? What is his asking price?

This question is just out of curiousity. If the car he is restoring is a matching numbers car, why was he running a SB hood on a BB car?

Jim -- The '74 is a T-top car.  Can't talk price.  He still hasn't convinced his "boss" to sell it.  I know he'd like the $$ to finish the '70.  Patience. I believe he will sell it.  My guess (just a guess) would be around $7 - 10K.  Interesting observation -- he mounted a set of '57 crossed flag emblems to the custom valve covers on the 383. Go figure.

Good question about the motor.  Apparently, the previous owner had replaced the motor with a SB after he blew out the BB.  Cry The original, numbers-matching LS5 came with the car.  This guy decided to take it all back to original, so he rebuilt the LS5.  They have done a nice job on the frame and motor.  Still looking for a few date-correct parts like alternator, water pump, etc. It will be nice when done.
