Vette(s): None yet. Trying to locate a yellow '74 that my dad sold about 14 years ago.
I'm trying to locate a '74 T-top coupe that might still be located in western PA, specifically Butler County.  Car is bright yellow with silver vinyl interior and black carpeting, L48/auto., tilt/tele wheel, pwr. windows, a/c, and rally wheels.  My father sold it in 1994 or 1995 to ???.  No VIN info. available.  Please call me (Tom) at 412-508-2241 with any info.  Thank you. pittpd9932008-03-05 18:04:11

The best place to start is the PA Department of Motor Vehicles. For a fee, they can run a search for every 74 Vette currently registered in that state. They may be able to run 74,s that were registered but did not renew. It will depend on how far their records go back. This will only narrow your search but if the Titles show chain of ownership you may be able to find your fathers name or address. If you can find this info you will be able to get the VIN.Without the VIN it will be time consuming. It really boils down to how important this is to you. good luck on your search.

Try contacting the insurance agency where the car was insured by your father. They may have a record of the vin, which will help your search.

I just ran a search using our Registry Database and found these, however none seem to have (or ever had) a Silver interior:

While anything is possible, I'm not sure a silver interior would have been available from the factory on a Bright Yaller car. I don't have any of my reference stuff here, so I can't say for sure.

As far as doing a title search, unless you are the current owner, they may not do it for you. It's not something that just anyone can request, and get. Now, if you have a buddy that works for a law enforcement agency, they might be able to help.

Adams' Apple,

When I first saw this car I doubted that the bright yellow exterior / silver interior was a factory color combination.  But when I checked the trim plate's numbers in the Corvette Black Book I found that this combo was offered by Chevrolet...and it must be pretty rare because I've never seen or heard of another one.

I have a buddy that just retired from the PA State Police who might still have connections with the DOT.  I'll ask him.

Thanks!
