I have watched this on the Phoenix list for a month now.
It sure looks like a nice car at a fair price.
Now I know 5 of ya will say that same car is available for $1200 anyday of the week but for the cars the rest of us see this again seems like a good price.
What say you?
OK so the link dont work but I have faith someone with far more knowledge of this site can change that to a cool blue working link.
fixed link.

John,
I'm sure the current economic climate has something to do with it. Judging from the pictures it seems to be in the ballpark. If it is "all there" as we like to say, it actually is an attractive price. I have been looking at C2s for a couple of years and it is one of the nicer looking cars I have seen for that type of money, If it was closer, I would be looking really hard. I could have bought a local car here a few months ago for 30K but it needed paint and front suspension work. Thanks for posting.

I think even if collectors and hobbiests aren't hurting right now, most are probably taking a wait and see attitude. I feel pretty confident about my job and was thinking about taking advantage and picking up another collector car during the downturn at the firesale prices, but then again, I really don't know where this economy is headed. Mabe I should invest in some solid consumer staples companies now while the stocks are all down instead. Mabe I should buy a rental property. The guy who advises us at work about our 401ks told me any cash I have now, to stuff it in a mattress and hold on to it. You hear things like that from people who are supposed to know and it makes you hesitant to do anything.

Thanks for the response.
I guess I was just trying to see if what I thought was a good price was in fact somewhat correct for that year of car in that condition.
I do understand nothing is true until one sees it and verifies the #'s but other than the red seats I think it looks great.
As far as the economy I believe now is a great time to buy anything, land houses or cars. The wait and see deal only works for me when I wait and see the prices go up then think "I wish I woulda"....
Again thanks.

I'll take a guess....
Perhaps it's the Earl Sheib $99 paint job?
The paint(from the pics) is horrible. Over-spray on weatherstrips, sill plates, etc.
It has the incorrect interior, also. According to the trim tag, it should be White & black(vinyl), which is a fairly rare combo. The seats don't look right, either, as far as cushion shape.
A lot of stuff under the hood, while nice and clean, are not "correct" for the car...the air cleaner, plug wires, and rubber fuel line are most obvious right off the bat.
Ok, so I'm nitty-picky. But....they're asking fair market value for a show ready, correct car...not a driver quality, #4/5 car.
It looks like someone just threw in a new interior(carpets/seat covers), a quick/cheap paint job, and spent most of their time detailing the engine compartment. It's a decent car, but not a $39,000 car, imho.
I'd be more interested in the '59 Cadderack in da garage, meself.

Thats why I ask these questions Joel and thank you for the insight.
One day I am going to buy me a brother or sister to the 73.
Till then I am tryin to learn these things.
What I do know is I am very partial to a bone stock # matching car and the 64-66 for whatever reason looks way cool to me.
That or a 69.

You need to be careful on craigs list, They have had some ads showing some real nice classic's for dirt cheap, ie 69 z28/dz302 for 3500$ They are set-up's. They have busted a few but they keep popping up. I also seen in the local paper a 69 SS396 for 4500, same telephone number.

My first Corvette was a red '63 coupe with red interior, so at first glance, I had a real memory trip. Then I started noticing some of the things Joel mentioned.
But the exhaust manifolds are sure pretty!
