I kinda like this one, for some reason...I hope it turns out to be in decent shape.
TJ, if I may make a suggestion....while you're searching, why not stop in at a convenience store, and see if they carry the National Edition of the Chevy/Corvette Trader. It comes out every month, and there are MANY 77-82 Vettes in it for sale. Some might even be in your area. Even if there's nothing close, the idea is to get a feel for the asking prices for the cars. They usually give pretty decent descriptions, and there is a pic of the car. I was looking thru the August issue today at lunch, and saw several that sounded good, and for the right money, IE: not overpriced.
Just a suggestion...I've been getting the Corvette Trader for over 10 years now, every month. It's a great way to get a feel for market values. Some issues will have a section at the back with cars that sold, with the asking price, and the actual sale price.

Ok guys, looks like I am buying a Vette, well at least 95% sure I am buying one.

I have an appointment tomorrow at 11:00 to look at it. I talked with the owner of Nickey's and he was telling me all about the car. Sounds really good for the price and I remember someone on here mentioning that they have dealt with Nickey before and had positive things to say.

So tell me guys, what color shoes should I wear tomorrow?

You can wear whatever type/style/color shoes you like....it's THEIR job to impress YOU, not the other way around!

The car looks like it has some honest wear on it...not too bad at all. A little TLC may be all it needs. The price is right, for the condition...maybe even a bit low. Looks like a really decent driver quality Corvette, to me.

btw...mkapp7879 lives up in that area, I think, and he's a whiz on the '78-'79 cars. Ya might P/M him for advice on specifics to look for on the Anni cars...

Good Luck!! I hope this one looks/feels better than the others you've checked on.

Are you talking the bid price of the asking price of $11,991. I am assuming the $11,991. Not sure what I should offer, I don't want to insult the guy but I don't want to loose out either.

It's weird. I am not jumping up and down but I feel comfortable. Does that make sense? As I said, the 2 tone silver was my favorite for many years and then I got on the yellow kick. I almost feel like I should get a cashiers check for like $10,500 and give him cash for the rest if it is more but I don't think I can take it home because hey are putting a new exhaust on it and power anntenna. He didn't mention that they were bad because he figured it would all be installed by time he sold it.  Wonder if he will take a credit card. I could get a LOT of points off of that. LOL

I'd be glad to meet you there and look it over with ya.
Manual windows and the Vega wheel!(no tilt). Price does seem low for a 34K mile L82-4speed. Definitely looks like an untouched original, my kind of find. I hate when it's been messed with and things get covered up.

By the way, NicKey is not the same NicKey some of us are familiar with from the past. They simply bought the rights to the name for their restoration operation. I think ONE person there may have been with the original NicKey. Old guy just for the connection to the past. They did show some nice cars at Vettefest back in March.

Are you available tomorrow at 11:00? That would be great, I'll buy you lunch where ever you want. I try and look at what everyone tells me to look at but I am not sure what I am looking for.

He told me the story about the name because I said "You aren't Nickey?" The guy was very descriptive on the phone and wanted to make sure it was something I wanted before I drove all the way down there. I asked him about the bird cage and frame. He said there was no rot. There was surface rust on the frame but hey when you get that old, you have rust somewhere, trust me I know.... my body is doing it to me nowLOL

I also said to him that I wish it was a 79 for the extra inch on the seat and he said he heard there are tracks you can buy so the seat moves up more. He says they have never tried it.

And hey, my first car was a Vega, in fact is was a Vega Station Wagon, white with rust holes in it. I think it was a 74. No p/s, no p/b, I got a lot of muscles from that car, I was 18 back then and could handle it. Smile

One thing that is bothering me. The interior is blue. From my books, that wasn't an option for the silver annivsary paint.
