No I haven't but I put it in my favorites and when I get a chance I will take a look at it. Thanks.

This one I would be able to see but I would probably try and drag you along Mike. But the "been going through a restauration which is mostly completed" kind of scares me.
What about this guys? It is in my city, not sure if it is still available.
Wow, thought I was on another thread for a second.
Guess that one tickled ur funny bone

OK step back and take a deep breath. The coolest thing about a numbers matching C3 is its history, where has it been, what has it done, is it all original, how has it been treated?? I think you feel in love with this style, find one that represents that era, as pristene as you can. You find that car and it will turn heads any where.
When I see a mtor replacement like that black one I wonder what killed the original one.....abuse. There is an old saying "if it don't go ....chrome it"
You going to use yours as a real good lookin driver, or you going to trailer it to car shows?
Put a list together of the nice one's left out there and do a pro's / con's and see what comes to the top.
767REP wants to mural the underside of his hood also....no reason you can not do the same to your vette.

Hey, who are you and what did you do with our Alan?? He doesn't talk level headed like that.

Ok let me think about this. What I want. For one, I am not going to be putting it on a trailer. This car is for me to drive, not for shows. If it happens to be good enough to go in a shows, I might enter it but it is not my purpose.
In 1978, I was 11 years old and I believe that is when I fell in love with my first Corvette. Then our neighbor at my parents house when I was in jr high had a red one and I use to love to go over and just look at it.
So I pretty much feel in love with the 78 - 82 but loved all the C3's. Broke my heart when they came out with the C4's. I made a promise to myself back then that I would own a Corvette, even if I was 80 years old when I did.

Now I am going through my mid-life crisis (and a darn good excuse at that), so I was told I could finally have my Vette. My husband could careless about what car I buy. He actually said to me, "well is there another sports car you would want to buy?" after my frustration. I told him I would buy a red automatic if I had too instead of buying a different sports car. So I have you guys and my best friend to get excited with me about this, no one else I know cares. Though my 6 year old wants to go for a drive in it but he has always wanted to drive the in "front seat" of a car.

So here I am confused, frustrated and not sure which way to go. You guys have all given me great advice and I really appreciate all that everyone has done for me. So from what everyone has told me and my own research, I guess this is what I want.
I want a C3, manual. Preferably newer years, lets say 76 to 81 but I will not turn down a really good older year.
Color does not seem to be as much as a factor anymore. I do not prefer the greens, grays, browns or blues. If a really good red one comes a long I might think about it but I would really prefer darker reds and burgandys. I think right now Yellow and Orange are my 2 top colors but I like the whites, blacks, silver, two tones... There is not color that I just hate, just ones I more prefer for me.
Here are some options that I would like on it (preferable as much stock as possible).
It must have these:
p/s
p/b
headlights that go up and down. I do not like these ones where they set the headlights in the car
working seatbelts
These I would prefer these but are not deal breakers:
p/w
p/dl because I would like to put in a keyless entry(don't beat me up)
radio - preferably FM so I can listen to my Sirius - CB would be kinda cool
a/c - converted would be nice
L82 or a 454

tilt/telescope steering column
t-tops - glass would be nice. I won't turn down a really nice converatble though
a working parking brake
What I don't want:
trailer package

We all know I would like to stay under $15,000 but if that prefect car comes along and it is under $20,000 I will think about it.
I think, and you guys can correct me, I would like at least a 10 footer paint on it. No holes, real bad paint chips or really bad cracks. Decent interior, carpet not overly worn, same with the seats. Working gauges though the only ones I would know to look at are the oil and the radiator. Oh wait, there's a battery one too, right.
I would know to watch that one. Of course no rusting of the birdcage or frame.

That is all I can think of right now. Does this help or did I just write a book for nothing and made everyone read it?

Does anyone know anything about this dealer? I see them all the time but they are over 8 hours away from me.

Looks like intake manifold is painted blue. Not correct for L82 if claiming to be original. Check it with a magnet, should be aluminum. Also 5th digit of vin should be a "4". Shouldn't rule it out if car is otherwise good, but could affect what you might want to offer.

very good list. I did put a trailer package
on my 78 (it doesn,t show till it's hooked up) if you go say to PIgeon Forge or say Carson City or even the East Coast a small tastful trailer is nice for the added room.

Ok 2 questions.
1. How did you see that in the pictures?
2. Where is the intake manifold?

I can't see myself taking any really long trips that I would need one except maybe to where ever the 2009 gathering is going to be. I just don't have the time. I only get 3 weeks vacation, I have a 6 year old son(unless he can fit in the trailer
) and I never go anywhere alone. Only twice have I been somewhere alone and that both were buisness trips. I am kind of shy... no comments
... when around people I don't know very well, so I don't do things alone. I hope to go to some shows that are not overly far from here on weekends. Oh wait, I need to get a car first.
