Thanks for the info. I want something as much stock as I can get. I can handle a new motor in one but not all the other crap.

I don't know much yet but 86 isn't the 35th year, right? I don't know about the Indy part, if one was made then or not. And the first $5k takes it... OBO? Now that makes no sense.

Hmmm didn't think about that part.
You got the right idea going for a C3 that is mostly stock. Hang in there something you really like will come along. I think you have a good idea of what you really want (C3, Stick Shift, A/C, Yellow if possible, and NOT RED).

You need to broaden your search. Midwest area Vettes, especially the type of links you've posted, are probably going to have some rust or other problems unless they're LIFETIME winter stored ones at the top of your price range. Keep in mind a lot of C3s were driven year round when they were just new cars.
There's members here all over the country that would be willing to check out Vettes for you.
Ebay is a good source to find em. You don't have to bid, either. I've waited til after the auctions have ended without hitting reserve to contact the sellers to discuss things. Flew to the east coast to check the white 79 after agreeing on a price IF AS DESCRIBED. Started to walk away when the seller dropped it $3K. Drove that one home 1000 miles without incident. Pace Car was as described, trailered it home 150 miles. 78SA, though not off Ebay, came sight unseen out of Florida.
I've driven as much as 1000 miles roundtrip to inspect several over the years. Most weren't as promised. Saw it as a weekend trip. Course gas wasn't $4.30 a gallon!
The problem is I don't have the time go somewhere and bring it back. I work full time and so does my husband plus we have a 6 year old boy that has T-Ball and other things he needs to be at. Trying to sneak in a vacation is hard enough but to go and get a car, I am afraid getting a Corvette is not that high of a priority for us right now. I want one NOW but I can't put it infront of other important things in my life and the most important is my son and his happiness.
I'm sure he'd be happy with a new C3,when he figures out what it is,don't try to jump into buyin one,I know it's tough,I looked around traveled all over ,not out of State, finally found my Baby 6 miles from home, the guy had to sell it cause his wife was pregnant and there was no room for a car seat in it,he had to buy a mini-van,sucks to be him

,His mother was the original owner, she lived in Michigan, she gave him the car as a present,he brought it to New York, that was the only miles he put on the car

Well this one is on eBay and I don't think it is going to make the reserve. They are about 1 to 1 1/2 hours away from me. Is it worth looking in to?
