It is in Battle Creek MI

Profile Sheet                                                     (Reference:  L-092      Contact: Larry Karlo, The Vette Net at 888-238-3883

1971 CORVETTE Convertible, nicely reconditioned and

offered at $19,990

The Vette Net is honored to present you with an opportunity to own this very special 1971 Corvette convertible. It has been maintained in top running condition and the custom purple metallic paint is dazzling.  You have selected an outstanding example of an early C3 Corvette to consider for purchase.

There is something very special about Corvette convertibles. Driving down the highway with the top down and radio tuned into your favorite station is incredibly satisfying. Some say even theraputic. This Corvette retains its numbers matching engine, transmission, rear end, interior, and many of its factory-installed components. Just the paint has been changed to make it a bit different from ordinary. I believe you will agree it has been executed with restraint and the result is perfect.

If you are looking for a Corvette convertible with a distinctive look, this certainly is one Corvette you will want to seriously consider. Please know that I am here to help you evaluate this great American sports car and provide all the information you need. Your questions and request for additional information will be handled with priority.

Here is the profile as presented by its current owner:

VIN            194671S104321

Odometer at 107,650 miles (appears to be original)

420  Custom Saddle interior (original) includes leather seat trim, woodgrain accents and carpet trim on lower door panels, and woodgrain accents on console plus special cut-pile carpeting  ----- Black cut-pile carpeting (new)

Features: CJL 350cu.in./270HP engine M20 Wide-ratio 4-speed Transmission  ------

Chromed C3 Wheels with center caps  ------
BFG White Letter Tires(newer)

Owner’s Comments:

Since 2002, I have been the custodian of this beautiful and dependable Corvette convertible.  Great care has been taken under my watch to be sure the car is in top running condition. As you will see, a lot of money has been invested both the cosmetic and mechanical condition of the car.  You will be buying a Corvette that is ready to drive, even across country if you like.

Besides the special paint, here is what I have replaced on the Corvette:

New windshield

New weather stripping (all replaced)

New door handles

New spare tire bucket

New soft top

New door hinges

New exterior badging

New chromed rear vent grilles

New seat belts and anchor bolts

New rear compartment doors

New carpet front (all of it)

New wheel trim rings and center caps

New tires 15 x 8 Dunlop (4)

New rocker moldings

New Halogen bulbs

New hood release cable

New rear deck release rods,

New mirrors

New floor mats

Transmission rebuilt in 2006
Body-off reconditioning with custom paint 2002

This car has exceptional eye appeal especially in the sunlight. Whenever I am at a car show or in a gas station, inevitably someone compliments the car and inquires about its originality.

Personally, I am not in this hobby to collect awards.  I think it’s a whole lot more fun to enjoy the ride. There appears to be some original mechanical parts on the car (engine, trans, rear, etc). If that’s your area of interest (originality), or if you just want a clean highly dependable Vette with a little bit of attitude, you should seriously consider my Corvette.  You won’t be disappointed and I believe you will agree it is a great value.

I was asked to rate the cosmetic and mechanical condition of this car on a scale of 1-10 (highest). I know you will think I’m biased, but I respect your need for honesty and I feel very comfortable with the following ratings:

Paint:  8.5 (There are a few minor surface blemishes on the hood. Not too many.)

Seats: 7.5  (They look very nice considering their originality.)

Dash: 6  (Showing some aging.)

Carpet: 10  (New.)

Door Panels: 8  (They look good and show some wear.)

Stowage Area: 10  (All new.)

Soft Top: 10  (New.)

Glass: 8  (Side glass is original.)

Windshield: 9  (Replacement)

Engine Appearance: 5.75  (It isn’t detailed but sure looks good for its age.)

Mechanical Rating:  9  (I take great pride in having the Corvette serviced whenever something needs attention. Every season the car gets a full service, oil, lube, filter, fluid checks, etc.)

Operation:  8.5  (All controls, lights, switches, and gauges work perfectly. The clock is the only feature on the car that needs fixing.)

Performance: 9  (While this is not what I would call a “performance” Corvette, it will certainly put a smile on your face.  It runs very well, tracks straight down the highway, shifts smoothly, stops like it should, and is quite comfortable.)

Thank you for taking a look at my 1971 Corvette. I invite you to take it for a test drive and see for yourself how accurate I was in describing the condition and performance of my Corvette. My broker Larry Karlo will help arrange your visit to my home in Michigan.

The chrome bumper front and rear cars are a great investment and a lot of fun to drive, if you want a driver don't cheap out and don't buy a fixer or it will nickel and dime you and won't be fun...for rust areas...look in front of the rear wheels at the frame, open the doors and look where the door hinges are, and by the windshield bottom, look to see if the doors open and close properly without binding or catching....having to slam a vette door is not proper...unless brand new weather stripping was JUST installed, and look at the outside door gaps to make sure they are straight, go to the back of the car and stand back and see if the rear wheels are tipping in or out...best advise that I can give you is to take it to a garage and have them do a safety inspection of the car and ask if you can look underneath the car with them and have them point out any concerns they may have, (if they won't go to a garage, then your best not to buy) and if you can (have one day time frame before you buy) post those concerns on C3.com you will be sure to get straight forward advise from people here that have been around Vettes for along time. No one would want to see you buy a bad Vette.
Good luck
