First, I would need to know where the replacement engine came from. Is it a Vette engine? The paint is probably weak...$5000 minimum to redo. If the odometer is correct, it's probably a $6500 car. 77's are not bringing big dollars but I would buy it, given its a 4 speed. I would need to know more about the engine.

I had I think some good luck today. Someone recommended a place to go to for a Vette and I checked it out. They are more of a service place that sells a few Vettes and does commision.

The place is called Corvette Connection (www.corvetteconnection.net) and I talked with a Bob Steinbacher. He was great. The few he had were a little more what I wanted to spend but he is going to look around for me. He said that it shouldn't be hard finding one, just have to make sure it is a good one. He told me that even if I don't buy from him that I should bring it in there to be looked over before I buy it. He also was telling me how I should stay away from 68 and 74 because of the body style change and thinks about a 77 would be good for me. Also that I really want p/s. He said the p/b are not as big of a deal. (He had a beautiful yellow on there... completely restored. $40,000 sigh)

I felt very comfortable talking with him and did not feel like he was BSing me, which I normally can tell. I also saw on his desk his name tag for being an instructor for the Bloomington Gold School, so that impressed me right there. So hopefully I can get a car from him. He has a friend that has a dealership in Chicago but he is on vacation for the weekend. He said he would give me a call early next week.

Oh and that blue one I posted. I called about it. The nose was cracked as well as the back, the door panels needed to be replaced, the interior needed work, so I just said forget it.

I don't know what to do. Everything I find is either an automatic or red. I know everyone keeps saying, just wait it will come but I am afraid to wait.

A friend of the family just died in his sleep at 56 and then his cousin's brother-in-law died the next day at 58. You just don't know what is going to happen.

I don't know if I should give in and buy a automatic or buy a red one or buy a different sports car and keep looking for that prefect Vette. I just don't know. I know everyone thinks I am silly but it is just the way I feel. I guess I am going through more of a mid-life crisis than I thought.

Don't settle for an automatic if you want a manual. You need to trust everyone here...be patient, you will find what you are looking for. You need to broaden your geographic search area. Some C3VR member will likely live within driving distance and would probably be happy to inspect the car. I will be glad to look at any car you find within 100 miles of Charleston, SC. Don't give up. The search is part of the fun...once you find the right car and buy it, you will talk about the search for years to come. Keep looking!

Beautiful Vette, exactly what I want. Here is my few dilemmas.

I have never ever driven a Corvette of any type or year. So I have to drive the car that I am going to buy to make sure that I will be comfortable and able to drive it.

I have a full time job that I sometime work evenings or weekends and when I am not there I am a full time Mom. Plus my father passed away in Dec, so my mother depends on me a lot. I am going on vacation to Canada next week and that is going to be a big deal.

I can't just take off far away to get a car. I want a Vette really bad but my family comes first. Trust my, my cousin in Texas is telling me to get one down there but I just don't have the time to do it.

I appreciate everyones help here and if I could I would have one of you check a car out of me and then have me go look at it but I just can't. My life won't allow it at this time.

So I guess I have to keep waiting. At least I got a new grill, so I have some type of toy to play with.

Vette(s): White '79 Corvette. It's a driver.
Go take a look.
If anything, you could kick the tires and take it for a spin. That would allow you the opportunity of driving a C3 Vette.
IMHO, an L-82 with a 4 Speed is a pretty nice C3.
