I hung my new Exhaust system from Corvette Central under the car and drove to the Muffler shop and had him make the connection to my headers. I bought the original 2 1/2" system and I don't think I'll leave these stock mufflers on very long, it's just to quiet. My question for you guy's is why my 2 1/2" system is choked down to 2" at the back of the muffler. This makes no sense to me.

They correctly should neck down to just over 2 1/8". The theory is that the exhaust has cooled a bit so needs less room.

they also started with the 2" and opened up to the 2 1/2 at the manifold, thats how mine are.
When I replaced the pipes and mufflers several years ago on "The Toy" I left the original 2" exhaust manifolds on but went with the pipes that opened up to 2 1/2". All of the mufflers I looked at had 2 1/2" inlets but only 2" outlets. Couldn't find any tailpipe tips that were 2 1/2" anyway.
But I'm happy with the sound - not too soft at idle and just the right (for me) roar at WOT.
