Has anyone swapped a carb for a TBI from Affordable Fuel Injection? I'm replacing the engine and dash harnesses and dashboard & gauges and thought it would be a good time to make the change.. Rod

I haven't used this company's F.I. system, but have done a ton of research on different systems on my quest to inject my vette.

Unless I missed reading about the programmability, one thing I don't really care for is this system is they mention it has a "chip" which comes pre "burned" not allowing any programmability for easy. So if this is a "chip" type ECM it would be a pain to do any mods to the engine. i.e. hotter cam, headers.

There are other systems out the that are "self learning" which is a big plus over the Affordable F.I. Yes they are more money, but I think the benefits out weigh the cost. You don't want a car that becomes more problematic than a carburetor. I knew a guy that used one of the first Edelbrock F.I. system on his '75 vette and he was frustrated trying to get it dialed in. Which took many trial and error sessions.

Another thing to you need to find out is...will it fit under your hood. Make sure you will have enough room under there.

All in all I guess if your never going to modify the engine and they can guarantee the "chip" will make your engine run flawless and you will have enough room under the hood, go for it.

Good luck and keep us posted on your project.

Thanks for the feedback! I found a HOLLEY PRO-JECTION THROTTLE BODY INJECTION SYSTEM that has an ECU that is user-adjustable for idle, accelerator pump, main, high RPM, and choke. I just want to increase drivability nothing real fancy..

Vette(s): 1982 C3 Collectors Edition 44000 miles, sat in the sun most of its life, My wife purchased it for me for Father's Day in 2007 from her girlfriend that had it for 19 years. It is on the road again. I'm retired but it is now my daily driver.
Make sure to keep us posted on what you decide to do.  I'm looking at helping a friend do something like this.

F.A.S.T EFI has a decent self learning system also. I believe they were one of the first company's to have the self learning EFI. MSD Atomic is another one to look at too.

I beat my head agains the wall deciding what I was going to do. I opted to do a LS1 engine swap with a GM OBD II system. At this point I should have just built up the engine I had and put a F.A.S.T EFI on it. This LS1 project has been a pain in the butt. LOL.  But I'm almost done.

Keep us posted. Thumbs Up
