The fitting on the inlet is leaking at the threads. Anyone know the thread size, so I can get a tap so I can chase the threads on the carb female fitting.

Where the fuel line attaches to the carb fitting, or the carb fitting to the carb? And...what carb is it?

Is it the fitting with the 1 inch wrench size the holds the filter in the body of the carburetor? Gonna be a mighty big tap. Fine threads. There is a thin neoprene gasket that goes in there. Be sure it's there to start the process. May save you some search time, and cash for a tap.

Thanks Mark, there is no washer in it, I'll try to find one.

It'll probably be in a package with different sizes. Make sure it's a Q-jet.

Dave, the thin nylon gasket fits on the end of the carb fitting. The end of the fitting has a small groove/lip that the gasket fits into. It seals the fitting to the carb body. IF the threads of the carb body are damaged, and the fitting will not tighten properly, they do make slightly oversized fittings that will make their own threads as you tighten them into the carb. These oversized fittings also have the thin nylon washer/gasket on the ends of them. They are a little hard to find, but they do make them. I would certainly first check to see that the fitting has the gasket, and the gasket is not torn. They gaskets are available by themselves if needed.

I do not know off-hand. I do know a tap or thread chaser that size will be next to impossible to find...hence the aftermarket over-sized, self tapping fittings. The metal on a carb is fairly light duty...it will crack easily if mis-handled, so tapping the threads, if you can get a tap for it, might be risky. I've never done it myself, but I know cross-threading the fitting into the carb will likely do more damage than a thread tap would correct. The fitting does not need to be super tight...the gasket will seal if all is right. A little teflon tape will also help if needed.
