HI gents, I was wondering if anyone can help me to locate a part.  I just finished cleaning up my fuel tank and getting it prepped to re-install.  One small problem, does anyone know where to get the small o-rings that go under the sending unit bolts?  I have searched the usual parts suppliers, ecklers, zip, corvette central etc.... I work in the aviation industry so I might be able to find some o-rings of that size, but I prefer to use whatever GM called out for that installation.  Oh, on another note.  I used Eastwoods Tank Tone to re-finish the tank.  I noted in a thread somewhere that it was good but soft.  This is totally correct.  The finish will scratch very easily.  I let it set up and applied a satin clear over it.  I let that set up for a good week.  Now its pretty durable and looks great.  Just a tip.  Thanks!

The rubber gasket that Larry posted is what I used under the sending unit on my 82

I have that Gasket.  The O-Rings I found were under the head of each of the bolts. Same diameter as the bolt shank.  Any chance they dont belong there? 

OK, I guess I should have asked myself that question first! I just looked in the 80 assembly manual and there is no callout for O-rings, only the gasket. I should never have ASSumed   they belonged just because they were there.  I work on airplanes so fuel and O-rings are common to me.  Must repeat...Car.....not plane....Car......not plane...... Thanks Gents!!

Someone got a little creative with the extra "o" rings........just don't over torque with rubber gaskets.........you can squeeze them out.

Are you sure those are o-rings, and not a dried up sealant? I'm thinking the ones I've seen(on the older cars) had a bit of putty/sealant at the bolt/screw heads, and when the bolts/screws are removed, it looks like a small o-ring....
I have always put some sealer on the screws anyway...even with a gasket. The gasket doesn't seal the screws...just the flange part. The sealant keeps fumes/fuel from escaping past the threads of the screws.
Just a little sumptin to consider.

Yep, they are O-rings. One for each bolt. Also, the gasket was in place. I would think this would mess with the torque. I like the idea of sealant on each bolt. Keeping away the leaks and fumes is always an excellent idea. God only knows if this will work......but hopefully here is a photo of what I found.  Inserting pictures seems to be the "firewalking" of learning how to post.  Here goes...

Yeppers...those are o-rings! You should be able to locate some at your local parts place. You'll prolly just have to dig thru an assortment, or even buy a box with an assortment. They're not very expensive...last box I bought was around $8 or so, I think, and had 100 or so in different sizes.
