I am not the first owner of my 80 so I'm still trying to sort things out. This is my first vette so I'm probably equally qualified to screw things up as he was but here are my current problems.
1. changed out all the callipers and front lines. couldn't find the rear lines locally so I'm still on old there. I,ve bled them by pumping, vacuum and gravity' Last night the light comes on again and I swear the brakes are starting to feel mushy again.
2. Vacuum hoses for the front lights were just hanging got new relays adjusted everything and now my lights work. I don't know if it was doing it before but now i've got a situation where the idle just seems to float around changing from around 600-850. it doesn't lope it just seems to go up and down. All the original emissions are still there but who knows if anything is in the right place. The secondary's stick which creates a rough idle situation, The carbon monoxide smell is awfull.i sprayed carb cleaner on the linkage but it keeps hanging up just slightly. Bought a carb base gasket and found what looks like a 1/2" felt base gasket was in use. Don't even know if thats right.Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
Happy Birthday Boatman

my first guess on the front brakes becoming mushy would be that you might need to replace the master cylinder. Usually does the trick. They're quite inexpensive if you buy a rebuilt one, about 20 or 25 bucks. Hopefully that works.

The thick base gasket is not uncommon. The secondaries sticking open could account for the rest of the running problems. Fix that first, and go from there.
