Well, thanks guys. However Ben: THe car alrady passed visual inspection. My dad said there is a dude who will pass any car on the emissions test for $100. So I'm cool there. Also, forget cats, I hate em. As for the exhaust system the only place I could find it was Mid America. 603-850 mid america $269.99

I think I should just get the Dynomax super turbo muffler kit: summit: WLK-17482 and then go to a muffler shop by my dads work and have them build the exaust and weld it.
Check with the muffler shop first. Some states it is against the law to even work on an illegal exhaust system. BTW, is there any smog in Las Vegas?
From what I understand if your car came with Cats, the EPA says it must ALWAYS have Cats thereafter.  The issue is that most states stop requiring you to be tested after your car is 25 years old.  So you're still breaking the law, but no one knows or seems to care.  As soon as my '81 is tested for the final time in December, I suspect I may lose the Cat on a bumpy road and forget to replace it when I install an all new exhaust.

I will be driving down the same road.Don't have the bumps fixed.

It is illegal in Nevada to have resinators removed from your car if they came stock with it, b/c of the noise pollutiion laws. Yet a mienkie place didn't give a care, they worked on Andrews SRT-4 and took them off. I'm sure if you slip someone a few bills under the table if they really cared about it, they wouldn't care. Plus if it was me, I would work on it any way..... It's an American Legend screw the EPA.....

I can say nothin about cats, because my 77 didn't have em when I got em.  however...dynomax super turbos = the WORST sounding mufflers I have EVER heard.  a shop suggested I put them on my 77, and after a month I finally got tired of them, had the car straightpiped, and took a baseball bat to the mufflers out behind my house.  they're quiet and whiny, with horrible flow, totally not worth the money.  If you want some nice high-performance mufflers with a good aggressive sound, look at some chambered mufflers from Sweet Thunder, or something from Bassani or Flowbastard.  I would recommend Bassani.

I just had my exhaust split from the old Y to dual pipe with headers on
my '78. The difference was noticable. The cat had already been removed
and a open pipe put in...the chasis for the c3 has the frame openings that
handle 2.5" exhaust piping on each side nicely. Make sure you put in an
H or X pipe to balance everything nicely,...cost me $350 including
flowmasters in California...(it's a Kansas car, so No DMV issues)
