Had my pipes made from the header collectors back and everything went well. Car is very quiet with the stock mufflers. May have to do something there in the future. But the real problem is my accelerator pump on the quadrajet. Since I owned this car i have only put 1500 miles in the past 4 years and just had the carb rebuilt about 3 weeks ago. When it was being rebuilt with the napa echlin carb kit I was told the accelerator pump was very flimsy and didnt appear to be good quality. I have always been a napa guy but this is the 4th pump since i owned it. Does anyone know where i can get one that is good quality. I know filco used to make good carb kits but I dont have anyone around here that sells them. another question is can the ethanol from fuel being causing this issue? Again the pump was very flimsy and I could see where it wouldnt hold up. I will also check the pump bore to make sure it has no burrs. i wanted to stay with the quadrajet because it give great fuel economy.
Thanks
Rodney

It's a shame about Napa. They used to be top quality and their prices reflected that. They are still my main "go to" but any other shop has equal  quality stuff Confused. I guess to compete they lowered their standards. That has been the undoing of many companies. I've only been doing a couple of carb rebuilds a year and I do most of my business with Napa but luckily haven't had the same experience. I'd call around to see what other local shops might stock. Plunger quality should be obvious without breeching the kit wrapper (automatically disqualifying it from a return) Good luck on that Rodney. let us know how things turn out.

Hi everybody!! You want to see a blue pump cup. The black one srink when they go dry.
I did mine 4or5 years ago and went to NAPPA. It had a bule cup. Can you see in the top and does the gas spary good. Is your eng. stock Is idle set right. Do the idle screws work? Has the carb went dry. If you dont start it every week or so It could dry out. All ways a bad thing dont let them dry out. So keep em wet seya 81ZOOMZOOM
