...just had my Q-jet rebuilt and returned on my '74...was told that I had "contaminates" in the old floats - understandable after 30 years, but my question is...any suggestions on installing an additional aftermarket inline fuel filter and not just depending on the cartridge filter inside the carb, if so, where would be the best area for placement...the metal tubing line in front of the engine appears too confining; would the undercarriage area be an option? .......thanks, Prince Wink

Here's where I installed mine but I agree it would look better out of sight.

What Jim has is the best set-up, but not everyone can afford it!
A filter after the pump is best, but you must be carefull of using ANY rubber fuel line after the pump!!! That is the best way to set your pride and joy on fire if the hose ruptures while cruizin down the hyway...
Best solution is one like Jim has, or an inline filter with braided hose/hard lines. I just cringe when I see a car('specially a Vette!) with an inline filter sitting on top of the engine, with pieces of rubber line connecting it to the carb...

I used Jegs pro-flow350 hose and an fittings, having never worked with that stuff before I thought it was fairly easy. It dosen't look as cool as the stainless braided hose but it's cheaper and if I screwed up making some hose it wouldn't hurt me where it hurts the most (in my wallet). I did blemish a couple of fittings cause I was too cheap to buy the wrenchs and the lube.

In addition to the Fram filter after the pump, I also have an inline filter. When I get ready to go, I'm REARN2GO. LOL
