Hi there Vetterinarians,

Question on converting from a stock to after market fuel pump. Any aftermarket pumps that I've looked at do not have a set up for a return line. I was told by summit racing to simply cap off the return line and make sure I use a vented gas cap on the tank itself.

Does this make sense? Is is best to block it off at the tank fitting or is it alright to do this at the end of the hard line where the formed rubber lines usually connect to the pump.Wacko

Thanks!!

Stay warm!!

Paul

Hey Paul, I, just this past week, had my fuel pump replaced. I bought  a Carter pump for about $37.00 bucks and paid $150.00 to have it installed. The a/c compressor had to be removed and several other changes were made. I don't think this info helps, its just my story, good luck, Gene    (Nam vet 1968-69 corpsman 1st Marines)

You can block the return on either end, but it might be a bit safer at the rear/tank end. There would be less chance of fuel vapors getting out at the engine end, and possibly creating a boom.
Be sure to get a vented cap, tho, or you'll be trying to figure out why it seems to keep running out of fuel after driving for a while!
