Topic: Another TPI Update...
in Forum: C3 Fuel, Emission Control, and Exhaust Systems
The only thing I'm waiting on for the swap is my Prominator. I hope I get it soon, as I will be out of school for two weeks and I'll have loads of time to ge the swap completed. Before and after pics will be posted!

Can't wait to see them to.
I had put my TPI conversion on the "back burner" for quite awhile now. Mainly due to finding somebody who can give me solid answers and being able to guarantee me a hassle free engine management system to run my current engine configuration.
But after briefly talking to Jim from http://jimsperformance.com , I may go ahead this spring with his custom wiring harness, chip and get this system up and running. He did warn me that TPI's usually drop of power at 5000 rpm's. But for what I will lose in horsepower, I should make it up in torque. Plus better fuel economy.
I do have a complete Nitrous system in the basement for TPI. So that should satisfy my need for more power. "he,he,he."
Definitely keep us up to date with your TPI conversion. I'm very interested.

I'm going with the Prominator
On the fly programming and multiple slots for different circumstances (drag, autocross, daily, etc). I'll let you know how it turns out.
Sounds like a pretty flexible system. Now are you running a MAF or a Speed Density system?
I just started to do some port matching work on the upper plenum to the SLP high flow runners. And I will be doing the same with the TPI lower intake to runner openings.
I figure doing some enlarging and port matching, it should help a little with upper rpm breathing problems that TPI's have. I'm hoping to have everything completely done and running by April. And I will take pics and document each step of my TPI project.
Maybe between yours and mine TPI projects we can have a nice easy step by step guide to converting a C3 over. Both MAF & Speed Density systems.

Yeah, hopefully it will be a pretty flexible system. I've got a '91 GTA system, so it's speed density. I don't have the SLP runners and such though. I'm all about low end torque and I very rarely get over 5000 rpm, maybe once or twice a month, my Vette is a daily driver. I went with the Prominator mostly due to my cam, which isn't really computer-friendly. 110* LSA, lower vacuum Comp Cams XE262H. Good middle of the road cam, but may cause issues with the MAP, thus the programmable prom replacement. Also looking at Summit/Dart heads, I think between the two (done in stages, budget limitations) I should have all the grunt I need (if not all I want). My wife is convinced that this will only lead to more and more mods, and she is, of course, correct! A T-5 or T-56 is next on the list, between the TPI and the overdrive, my milage will hopefully get into the 20's. I got my fingers crossed for that, that's how I got the wife to approve the expenditures!
