I am replacing the mufflers on my 80 Vette this spring, has anyone used the mufflers below from the Ecklers Catalog? If you have how do they sound? & How were they to install?

Hi milkman!
I bought a set of those mufflers from Mid America in '00. Minor tweaking on the hangers. Nothing major for installation. They are kind of loud when they break-in. They had a raspy european tone with the stock 2-1-2 exhaust system. They sounded much better, with the stainless true dual system from M.A.,very deep and throaty. They do drone at highway speeds. Kind of annoying.
Hope this helps, Sarge

I got them on ''Rosie''..only mine have RED tips. They sound great!!! (at least to me they do)...alittle ''loud''...but not overpowering..can still hear the radio without having the volume set at 10!!

Only ''problem'' was getting one of the hangers to fit right..alittle modification but nuthing fancy.
Ok thanks for the reply, still have not made up my mind, being loud dosen't bother me, BUT my wife would not be happy. Oh well guess you can make some of the people happy some of the time but not wives all of the time!!!!
Again Thanks
Glenn
Again Thanks

Thanks Debbie
Your the second person to tell me there was a minor problem with the hanger, but no big deal. I called flow master and talked with their tech, basicly they sell a muffler that has the right size inlet and out let, but its not made our car. They said I was on my own trying to get inlet bends and exhaust tips. I'm laying on the ground doing this so I don't need a lota fabracation to make the things fit. As I'll be replacing the front and rear springs and lots of suspension parts at the same time I'm leading towards these mufflers. BTY how is your car comming.
Thanks
Glenn

I am so close to paint I can almost TASTE it!! ( not literaly though!!

The weather has not been good for fiberglass work...sand for 1/2 an hour come in the house to unthaw the hands for an hour...repeat...repeat...repeat.........down to the nit picky stuff.....looks smooth then...well the 2000 grit paper and wet sand some more...since I am going with black..every little flaw will show so Hubby is being very critical about it...God Love him!!
