kstyer said:Many of our cars have a return line to the tank from the fuel pump. By circulating fuel to the tank the fuel is cooled and kept circulating so it does not heat as much to begin with. If you have an electric pump you may consider a return system. If you have a return system, make sure it is working.

The line is in place, but it's been pinched off right before it reaches the tank. The tank has been replaced as well and I hope it has a return line port.

JR-

If you do solve the problem via electric fuel pump or whatever, please share.

Thanks

Umm! Interesting...the plot thickens (or shall we say sickens). THE Bill Elliot (NASCAR)?

Hey Bret,

I'm leaning in that direction. Electric fuel pump and fuel return line re-opened should do the trick (hopefully). You're no stranger to sweltering heat...it's brutal down here in deep So. Florida, too.

I dont have a functional return line on my car and have no problems with vapor lock..

my fuel filter and electric pump are on the frame near the rear of the passenger side front wheel well/firewall.

then my regulator is on the upper front of the wheel well and the line runs straight over to the carb via an inline gauge..

it gets very hot here in AR and I havent had a problem with my setup..

Ill take some location pics if youd like.

Hey Ben -

I'd love to see your fuel pump / regulator set-up. I'm sure JR would also.

Great thread. It has been on my mind for awhile.

Thanks to everyone! |cheers|

Ben, what pressure are you running?

Higher pressure prevents vapor lock, but too high floods the carb.

That's another thing, now. What capacity pump to run with your individual set-up.
