Topic: Car Runs Like Crap
in Forum: C3 Fuel, Emission Control, and Exhaust Systems
Does anyone have any idea what might be going on? Plus, where is the build sheet for the car located. It was not on top of the gas tank when they dropped it. They did say there was a shield above the gas tank and it could possibly be there.

something similar happened to me. the car would idle and have great idle response in the driveway but when i put it in gear and put a load on the motor, it would want to die. turns out, i didn't have a full 12 volts going to my HEI distributor. i was told to run a hot wire directly from my fuse panel (i used an empty accessory slot) to the distributor. i haven't had a problem since then.

I had a similar problem long time ago after replacing one of the rubber lines on my '74. I wound up with a piece of crap in the needle/seat in the carb, and it started flooding out major big-time!

Check the rubber lines carefully, to make sure none of the are kinked, or got pinched in the reassembly. If all that looks well, then change the filter in the carb. It's also possible that the "sock" filter on the end of the fuel pick-up in the tank has gotten stopped up. It do sound like a restriction in the fuel supply.

The supply line is 3/8", and the return line is 5/16".
