I've got a 327/300 4-speed w/3:08 gears and a fairly healthy Crane cam (don't ask why - I like the feel and sound). Runs well, but probably could use a better carburetor than stock Rochester to take advantage of the cam. Maybe even a more modern intake. Suggestions for bolt-ons?

E-mail or call Summit Racing's or Jeg's tech line and give them the specs on your cam and what you're looking for out of the car...driving style, street or strip, etc. They will make solid recommendations for an intake/carb combination that will make you happy.
You can contact Edelbrock or Holley the same way, and they will give you good combinations as well, but understandably with their products exclusively.

dont forget demon carbs too..
speed demon 650 w/mech sec.. is a good fit on a sb with a manual trans.

Mike68 said: Thanks. Good advice. I want to get more power, but don't want to get too radical. Did some Edelbrock research and will also try Jegs. |
I assume you mean single pump then..
not a major point for a recommendation... but from what ive observed... people seem to be able to help with holley's more here on c3vr. this is also true of mechanics on the street.
holley's are solid performers.. I nearly went with a street avenger but tried the demon because Ive never had one before and they have a good street/strip rep.
there is one particularly helpful person here who works for holley (afterhark)...
another thing to think about.
this one some people might disagree with.
I highly prefer Mech Secondary carbs on manual trasmissions.

Vette(s): 1971 T-top. I just had car shipped from my parents house in florida where it has sat for over 12 years..It is going to be a long project!
I just put on a street avenger...now the question is with any of these aftermarket carbs do we have to put that transmission thing on it..sorry forgot the name
I think it is on the right side of carb...im sort of at a loss..the guy that was helping me is leaving town and my engine is still not in the car...so if I finally get it in car and it starts it will be amazing!!
Thanks

on the right side ???
there is a kick down cable that attaches to the throttle (drivers side) for some auto transmissions.. (ie th350)
is this what your talking about ?

Keep in mind, passenger side is right side, driver side is left side. Every position is relative to how the driver sits in the car.
I hope that doesn't insult anyone, but sometimes it has to be said.

Well sorry about my ignorance
but I looked in Chilton and the part i am speaking of is the CEC valve .. combination emission control valve..so the question still stands, is this something i need with new holley if i dont need to worry about emmissions in my state??
Thanks again!

Thanks again!
That must be a high altitide or California car with that valve. Maybe not.
I prefer the Q-Jet for a street car. It has advantages and disadvantages. But it's my favorite for street. Racing is another story.
Guys, I am still putting together my picture step by step for rebuilding the Q-Jet. Bear with me.
