That's purdy funny there, Larry!
The chambered exhaust is the same type system that the Mid-year('65-'67) cars had in the side-pipes. They really do sound kewl, but, they can be annoying to some people, too. One of these days, I WILL have a set under the '74, and maybe even the '85.
oh...I'm no ekspurt, but I do play one on-line...

I love the sound and, while loud, Momma told me to keep 'em when I
mentioned that if they were too loud for her, I would go back to
standard duals and mufflers. Great gal, especially since she
carries the scars on both legs from goin' out for a ride before we got
the covers on. What a trooper!
I've got flowmasters on the GMC truck and they are great, but I love having the pipes right there to hear. Mine seem to smooth out and get a bit quieter (probably airflow and doppler effect) as you approach 4500.
If ya still can't decide, go to a car show and find somebody that will let ya sit in their car with the windows down while the side pipes are callin' yer name!

I don't think Mike was lookin to put sidewinders on his car, just the chambered, undercar system. They do have the same sound, just not right in yer earballs...
oh...and no burnin Mama's purdy legs, either!

I have the chambered exhaust on my 69. I do like the sound, but I liked glasspacks too (remember that phase?). If your considering 40 series Flowmasters, they are about the same. If you like loud and deep rumbling exhaust, you will like them. If you don't, don't buy them. Chambered exhaust are marketed for the guys who liked the mid-sixties big block sound. That sound was loud. My wife and daughter think their too loud. My son thinks their awesome. Cruising around the neighbor they sound great. Cruising down the highway at 3000 rpm, forget about listening to anything else...

I have the chambered mufflers and would not consider having anything but! They are attached to Hedman ceramics and 2 1/2" pipes (the mufflers are 2 1/2" as well). I was afraid they would be too loud before I installed them. I used the brand "Sweet Thunder" and someday when I get my 2nd C3, it will get them too. They definitely thunder under hard accelleration but are not bad at all with normal driving. They have some sound bites at sweetthunder.com. It is truly amazing what the exhaust system did for the power.

Glasspacks were awesome!!!! Get 'em hot and hit 'em with the
garden hose, hear the glass break and then listen to the sound.
I had them or Thrush on everything back then!
One thing to think about mikeee, if you plan on long trips (Pidgeon Forge, Tucson, etc) 12 to 14 hrs over 2 or 3 days of that wonderful sound might require Pain Aid. It is something to consider.

I have had corvettes with and without chambered exhaust. From my experiences, I have found that I need less sex when I've driving one with chambered exhaust. Go figure!!
