Well, I certainly apreciete all the posts and help I have recieved. I was able to order a 7040202 from my local auto parts guy....he did not see a listing for the 7040212, and several other parts guys told me it was the same exact carb, just difrent numbers...same metering and jets, and so fourth, SO I should have my carb today. I also ordered a choke rod , cover and a new pump to carb fuel line as the one I had was a bit fudged. Once evrything is put on...is there a initial adgustment for the mixture screws that I can set up, or are they usually sent out from the rebuild shop all ready to go. Thanks guys.........I am not a mechanic so bear with me, Thanks!! Eric M. ....................ps I also have a book on rochester qjets on the way, Hopefully this will also help!

The initial idle and mixture adjustments should be pretty close...at least close enough to run. You may need to adjust either or both, but I would suggest waiting until it runs for a while first. If the idle speed is too low, and it won't idle, then you will need to raise that, of course. It is adjusted on the driver side, front of the carb. There is a small, slotted screw that touches the throttle linkage that you turn to raise or lower the idle speed.
The idle mixture screws on on the lower base plate of the carb, one on both sides, pointing forward. These are best adjusted with a vacuum gauge, for the highest vac. reading.
Take a look at KEN'S carb O/H article, as it is very good, and gives a lot of info on the Quadrapuke, and adjustments.
Click on the link above, then click on the button, and then the "Quadrajet" button.
