Has anyone played around with porting a crossfire intake?

I've read some about it, but, seems everyone has a different idea.

I had a problem with the heads bending the pushrods, seems the castings are bad. Should be getting new castings in a week or two. Since I have the manifold off, I started to play with it. I didn't do a gasket match, only opened the ports to 1 9/16 in., and cut the egr port off the manifold and rounded any sharp edges.

I guess it will run better or worse.

From what I've read about the Crossfire system the biggest block to making power is its induction system. The general consensus from what I see is that there's not much that can done about it...it's unfortunately the nature of the beast.    The aftermarket pretty much ignores it as it wasn't used for very long plus its inherent limitations, regardless of how well it can run...it just can't be modified much for making extra power without scrapping the whole system and taking a different route for power mods.

Yeah, there's just not enough meat in the right areas to do any good with porting. The ports are just too small, but that's the only way they could get the intake under the hood. I've heard that having it "extrude honed" is about the best you can do, but it's still not worth the $$$

I know it's not the best setup, but it does have fuel injection. I do not want a carb. I thought maybe someone out there tried to modify a crossfire to gain a little more power.

Take a look at the X-Ram option at www.x-ram.com . True, the crossfire was only used for 2 years on the vette, but it was used for years on Firebirds and Camaros along with many other GM models. Using an x-ram system, you can use larger TB's and increase your CFM flow a ton. Oh, and the best part, still have over 20mpg.
