I'm thinking of installing dynomax headers as i've read some good things about them, they are the right price, and they are jet hot coated. Anyone on this board have experience with them?? Oh.... i already used the search feature, and found some information, i'm just looking for a little more. The car is a 71 l48.

I'm also considering adding dynomax headers, if and when I go to vortec heads. I do know that if you have a/c you have to make spacers to mount the factory compressor bracket. Joe

Hello all... I just spent some time on Summit Racing's website (summit.com), looking at various exhaust components.

My '79 has the 2-into-1-into-2 exhaust system, which I want to replace with headers, dual exhaust, and performance mufflers. Summit's price on a set of ceramic coated Dynmax headers is reasonable, at least when compared to the Hookers!

Speaking of which, Hooker makes a dual exhaust kit for my car which I would most likely use w/ the new headers. And Dynomax has a kit with 2 mufflers and the last few pieces of tailpipe. Sort of a "Dynomax-Hooker-Dynomax" combination.

So, it seems everything is available. I'm a little concerned about headers, though. Will they clear the power steering "ram" assembly under the car? Will they hang way down and significantly compromise my ground clearance? Any suggestions or advice as to brand preferences?

As an aside, for ANOTHER $75 or so, Flowmaster makes a "collector ball flange" to replace the 3-bolt header collector which supposedly helps restore some ground clearance. Although, this would require some cutting and welding.

Thanks in advance for any help anyone can offer! |thumb|

Thats what I'm going with my friend. Same headers (Dynomax) fro same car (71 L48). For the bucks I think its the best. Terry

Just got 'em delivered from Jegs-about $238.Now I have to make it dual exhaust.Think it would be better to order the exhuast and let a muffler shop do it.Or just take it down there as is |headscratch| I've got stainless Magnaflow muffs now,but there too quiet. Will I get more noise with the headers,or do I have to change mufflers too |idea|
