I am going to install a new exhaust system. I am looking at the one from Corvette Central. Has anyone had experience with these systems, or any others? I am also looking for new mufflers that offer a nice "throaty" rumble for my 454 without being too noisy that I scare the neighbors. Any advice on what to use will be appreciated.

Hi Steve!

I bought a complete dual exhaust system from Corvette Central for my '78 L82, and am competely happy with it. The price was good...better than the other Vette suppliers, and it went together perfectly. Seeing how I eliminated the catalytic converter and replaced it with a true dual exhaust, it seems to have freed up at least twenty extra horses, plus has an excellent sound. I see no reason why Corvette Central's system for your big block wouldn't be just as satisfactory.

i put 3 inch on my 454, along with headers i gained at least 50 horsepower. Seeing as you have the LS5, 3 inch would certainly not be too big. You might want to find some pretty quiet mufflers though, the 3 inch on the 454 isn't too quiet with really high flow mufflers. Hope this helps.

I put a true dual system on my '80 from Mid America. With headers and Flowmaster 2 chamber delta flows, it sounds tough enough without scaring anyone off. |thumb|
