I recently found a pair of original rectangular exhaust bezels that are so much nicer than those currently on my '71. They are clearly used but they're in GREAT shape. They are heavier than the ones on my car and they have the original GM part number stamped on the underside. The ones I plan to pull off the car are thinner -- they almost look more like plated sheet-metal than a chrome-finished cast part. I paid $100 for the pair. Did I do well or did I get taken?

Hi Joe,
I just forked out $80 for a set of polished stainless bezels ('69 were smaller and round) from Corvette Central. They aren't as heavy (obviously stamped & not cast), don't shine like chrome and didn't fit well without a lot of extra time. I'm saving my old ones in case I ever decide to have a bunch of parts rechromed.
$20 more for the real thing sounds pretty darn good.
By the way, anyone know how expensive rechroming is these days?
