Vette(s): 1971 T-top. I just had car shipped from my parents house in florida where it has sat for over 12 years..It is going to be a long project!

Thinking ahead a bit about cleaning up the back end of car when its done.  I selling my sidepipes so I was wondering if there is a reason the exhaust on our cars couldnt be routed out the side like some do infront of the back wheel vs the back where to mufflers show??  I was going to use chambered exhaust so mufflers size should not be an issue.

Vette(s): 1975 C3 Red, T-Tops, Black Interior. All I need is time and money! Getting there!

As long as you have ground clearance, I don't see a problem.   I have seen it done before some time ago.  Make sure the exhaust clears the body enough to not damage the paint.

Not really to my taste, or what I would want, but I admit it's interesting, and can be a bit of fun.

Vette(s): 1972 Coupe Anything, but Stock and more mods to come! SSBC Force 10 Brakes, 3.73, TH350, 355 CID, Rack and Pinion, Vette Brakes suspension front and rear.
Exiting in front of the rear tires is what is typically called a NASCAR style exhaust system.  Can be done with some work.

I plan on doin the same thing with mine sooner or later. I want a rectangular piece to go out the side, something like nascar, for better ground clerance. I'm really thinking about 86ing the mufflers and just run thru the cats, nothing against the Harley guys and rice rockets or 18 wheelers with 6" stacks and no mufflers, but if they can get away with it, why can't I? I use to work in the drag racing world, and was around a lot of fuel cars before the ear protection came into play, so I'm half deaf anyway.
