While doing some checking on the vettes undercarriage. I found out that the rear exhaust tubes and one muffler have holes and cracks.
1. Can I repair the holes and cracks until I replace them?
2. What would be the right exhaust system to replace my originals? I do want to keep the exhaust like original.
Thanks.

Purchase a muffler hole repair kit at your local automotive store.
Wrap the muffler tape around the hole completely and cover the hole totally with several layers of the tape.
The tape is self adhesive usually or is activated by the mufflers heat and will keep itself on securely. Change the entire exhaust system to a good grade stainless steel system.

Thanks for the help. I'll have to do this next week while doing my other projects.

I might go without stainless steel and stay with aluminum. We'll see when the time comes.

I bought an aluminized Magnaflo exhaust system from Corvette Central a couple of years ago. It went on fairly easy, sounds good and still looks great 2 years later... no rust.

I was in NAPA today and noticed they had a new product for muffler repair displayed right on the counter.

The exhaust systems supplied by Corvette Central are excellent. I've had one and it went on without problems at all. In fact, I've never heard anything but positive things about their systems.
There's no real reason not to go with an aluminized exhaust system. It will last nearly as long as stainless steel and is a lot easier to work with. Aluminized will last indefinitely. My daily driver has a factory aluminized exhaust and with nearly eleven years and 120k miles it's still in fine shape.

Just installed a new system from Corvette Central. Aluminized with Magnaflow mufflers behind my 454 and Heddman Headers. Had to do some welding for the connection to the headers but everything fit great and I found there price to be very good. Love the sound of the Magnaflows, not to loud but sounds great.

We sell systems from Allens. They buy their raw materials from the same place as Corvette Central, and are small enough to be flexible. We often order mufflers with one less baffle for a little crisper sound. Price is about the same.

I had my pipes from the headers back and Magnaflow mufflers done at a local muffler shop. It was all custom bent tubes to fit real nice underneath. No matter how you go with your pipes top it off with Magnaflows, they sound very good.
