Hi Mike.....

Kind of depends on you. If you are wanting OEM you are going to have to do some research for that. Mabe your local Chevrolet garage can help.

If you wanting OEM like fit then one of the Corvette parts suppliers close to you would work. (Close to you to keep shipping charges down.)

They all sell similar and reliable products that they stand behind.

If your not wanting to do the work then maybe a local custom work shop would be the answer.

It depends on what is a value for you. As far as patching the exisiting system to me that would be a waste of money. If it is bad now it won't get any better until replaced. Since the car isn't a daily driver it can sit until the funds become available to do it right.

Take the money for the patch kit and apply it to a system you will be happy with.

Vette(s): 1980 L-48 still in the middle of a frame-off.

Are you maintaining the stock look in case of a future sale or would you be willing to make a change to get better performance without modification.

Stock is good if you want originality. That was my first thought with my car untill I decided I was going to keep it forever, so I decided to go to true duals for the performance boost.  Available from several vendors.

Just a thought for you.

Corvettes and women are the same...You want to make love to them but they keep breaking down.

I've never had any good luck patching mufflers and pipes.  The effort always seems like a waste of time and money, to me anyway.

When I replaced the entire system on "The Toy" seveal years ago it was a complete anodized setup from Corvette Central.  Went with the 2 1/2" pipes instead of the original 2" pipes, but other than that it was a stock system.  It went together easily and sounds just right to my ear.

Mike:....

I have a rear "Y" pipe and a set of mufflers that were on my 79 for about 6 months (sio they look brand new) that you can have a a very reasonable (read pretty cheap) price ....  HOWEVER I believe your cross member only has one hole in it for an exhaust pipe..So I do NOT know if the entire rear Exhaust set up is identical or not...
