Yes it is that time of the year to start thinking about getting the 72 vett ready for the upcoming cruising and car show seasion.
I am thing of taking the hooker sidepipes off and puting a 2 1/2" chambered exhaust system on. My wife burnt her leg bad
and I am not very happy with the sound. Is there any one out in C3 land that has or know of someone that has chambered exhaust on there Corvette. What are the pros and cons.

I am also rebuilding the trailing arms, s/s parking brakes, puting a TRW 340# fiberglass spring, all polyurethane bushings and Bilstein shocks. Also replacing all u-joints, changing diff fluid and removing the fuel tank to see if the build sheet is there.

Vette(s): 1972 conv., sunfire yellow, blk interior, blk vinyl and convertible top. Off frame restoration with American Speed 383 stroker engine producing 500hp plus a 200hp NOS system. MSD ignition. Hooker super competition headers with chambered exhaust.
I have Hooker super competition headers with chambered exhaust and I think it's the best of both worlds....no burned legs with the sound of original sidepipes.

I have chambered on the LT-1.
Love it most of the time and hate it sometimes. Love it around town. Sounds great.
Long freeway trips with the top down? I need earplugs.
My suggestion is to drive around town more than top-down freeway stuff.

Thanks for the info.
I don't do much freeway driving. I was looking for a good sound but still can here the radio.
Was there any problems puting on the system? I am thinking of puting the stock exhaust manifolds back on. ( puts is back to original look )

Dean, the chambered tubes were on the car when I bought it. So really I think it depends on the kit you get. There was a bit of welding to the tubes, I can see that.
Radio? at times you can hear the radio. Really I can barely talk the passenger with the top down.
So when the wife is along I kinda like that chambered stuff!!!
The best part:
At a stop sign that chambered exhaust just pops like a dragster.
